Strategic Alliances Follow Up System This is a step-by-step system for how to follow up with a potential strategic alliance. The first part of the system deals with how to set yourself up for success in following up with a new potential strategic alliance. The second part gives you an easy daily and weekly checklist to help you nurture those relationships in as little as 5 minutes a day. I use Send Out Cards* for sending birthday, holiday & other greeting cards. You ll need to tweak it if you use a different systems. *Send Out Cards allows you to select a card and write a message online and the system will print out a card, put it in an envelope, address it, stamp it, and mail it for you. You can also include gift cards, checks or gifts with your card and Send Out Cards sends them automatically for you. It s like magic!

Ask for Referrals / Personal Introductions - Call people you know that are connectors and ask them to call or send out an on your behalf - Write out an for them to copy, paste & send to both of you - Immediately send follow up #1 to set up a time to talk - 2 weeks later send follow up #2 to set up a time to talk - 2 weeks after that send follow up #3 to set up a time to talk & let them know you don t want to annoy them so this is the last time you ll write B. Do Something Nice for Them at the Event - Buy them lunch, dinner (or at least a drink) - Introduce them to a powerful connection D. Do Something Outrageously Cool for Them - Send them an awesome & meaningful gift - Give them a stage - Connect them with a powerful resource E. Join High Level Mastermind Groups (Ex Necker Island) F. Become a Success Story for their products / programs G. Follow up & follow through

7 Strategic Alliances Follow Up System (Set Up) SET UP: Fill out Strategic Alliance Contact Info Sheet with all available information 1. Name 2. Address 3. Cell Phone # 4. Address 5. Birthday Enter Contact Info in CRM (CRM = Contact Relationship Manager ex. Constant Contact) Enter Contact Info in Send Out Cards (including birthday) Assuming they have the necessary accounts Send Facebook friend request (with personal message about why you re friending them) Become their fan on Facebook ( like them) Add to Facebook Strategic Alliances List Follow on Twitter Favorite one of their tweets on Twitter so they re easy to find later Subscribe to their You Tube channel Send invitation to connect on LinkedIn Bookmark their blog (subscribe if possible) Sign up to be on their mailing list (e-zine, tips, etc.) Create folder for their communications Create filter Add them to your mailing list (with their permission) SPECIAL EVENTS: Send birthday card on their birthday Send anniversary card (if applicable) Send holiday card or New Year s card

8 Strategic Alliances Follow Up System DAILY CONNECTION: (at least 3 days / week) Facebook Plan (Set a timer for 5 minutes) 1. Read through status updates of Strategic Alliances List 2. Comment or like when appropriate until timer goes off 3. Update your status Twitter Plan (Set a timer for 5 minutes) 1. Respond to any personal tweets they may have sent you 2. Using your Favorites list, check out their recent tweets 3. Reply / Retweek when appropriate 4. Move on to next person & repeat process until timer goes off 5. Update your status Blog Plan (Set a timer for 5 minutes) 1. Read their latest blog article 2. Comment on their article (if possible) 3. Add powerful signature line, including a link to your website 4. Move on to the next blog & repeat process until timer goes off WEEKLY: (Schedule at least 1 hour per week for this) Look at the Strategic Alliance Info Sheet for ONE person Contact them to connect. For example: (Call / / Text / Comment on their blog or YouTube Channel) Add new information to their Strategic Alliance Contact Info Sheet Ask them What are you most fired up about right now? Ask them What do you need next? Ask them How can I support you? Ask yourself How can I create value for this person? & take action (or at least schedule action) on the ideas you come up with Move on to the next person & repeat process until you run out of time

10 How to Create a Strategic Alliances List in Facebook 1. Login to your Facebook account (if you don t have a Facebook account set up, scroll down & follow the system for setting one up) 2. Click on the Home tab 3. On the left side bar, click Friends 4. Click Edit Friends toward the upper right of the page 5. Click + Create a List 6. Enter a name for the list in the space provided 7. Click on the pictures of the people you want to add to the list 8. Click Create List 9. Click on the Home tab 10. Click Friends 11. Click on the name of the list (now you can see the updates just for these people) 12. BOOK MARK THIS PAGE so that you can find it quickly in the future

18 Strategic Alliances Do s & Don ts Do: Approach a potential strategic alliance with relaxed energy Position yourself as someone worth their time within 30 seconds Lead by GIVING Always look for ways to create value Focus exclusively on creating value for them unless & until they ask what you do & how they can help you. Give to Givers Create win-win-win agreements Whip out your cell phone & ask what s your cell? (instead of Can I get your card? ) & enter their info directly into your phone. Call them so they have your number, too. Focus on the long term value of the relationship (not short term gain) Don t: Don t take your strategic alliances for granted Don t try to form a strategic alliance if it doesn t make sense for your clients Don t be pushy Don t give your business card to someone unless they ask for it
