2 SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE FUTURE OF THE CYBERSECURITY INDUSTRY. BECOME A SPONSOR TODAY. Now in its seventh year, The 2018 SAE CyberAuto Challenge is a five-day practicum-based workshop where students work on real cars to find real answers to the challenges posed by cybersecurity in automobiles. The Challenge provides students with an interactive learning format through a series of instructor-led, practical learning sessions and discussions. Students are placed on teams comprised equally of student ts and professionals, including automotive engineers, government engineers, and ethical white-hat hackers. The teams work to identify automotive cybersecurity trends and develop talent in a new technical discipline in a high-tech industry. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has stated that an educated workforce is crucial to improving motor vehicle cybersecurity. In their Cybersecurity Best Practices for Modern Vehicles document, NHTSA noted its support for educational competitions containing cybersecurity elements such as the SAE International s CyberAuto Challenge.
