Make a cpy f Activity Master 16 (Mishap Cue Cards) and cut it int separate cards. 1. Divide the class int tw teams. 2. Write the fllwing n the bard: while. 3. Place the Mishap Cue Cards face dwn in a pile n a table in the frnt f the rm. 4. Explain that each card has a mishap wrd, smething bad that happened t 5. A student frm Team 1 cmes t the frnt f the rm, picks a card, thinks 6. If Team 1 guesses crrectly, they get t keep the card. If Team 1 desn t smene, plus the wrd while. Students have t pantmime the bad thing that happened and think f a situatin that was happening when that mishap ccurred. f a situatin (fr example, I brke my arm while I was playing basketball) and pantmimes the event. guess crrectly, a student frm the ther team must act ut a situatin using that card while his r her teammates attempt t guess what it is. Each team is allwed tw guesses befre the ther team tries. If neither team guesses the mishap, the card ges back t the bttm f the pile. The team with the mst cards is the winner f the game.

Getting Ready Students will d this activity as a class. Make a cpy f Activity Master 29 (Have Yu Ever...?) fr each student in the class. 1. Give a cpy f Have Yu Ever...? t each student. 2. Write the fllwing n the bard: Have yu ever? 3. Have students walk arund the rm asking each ther if they have ever dne the activities depicted n the Activity Master grid. When a student finds smene wh has dne an activity, the respnding student shuld write his r her name in that square f the grid. (Only ne signature is necessary fr each square.) The questining student shuld ask the respnding student smething abut the experience. Fr example: When did it happen? Where? Hw did yu feel abut it? The student whse grid is filled with the mst signatures is the winner f the game. That persn shuld reprt t the class abut the peple he r she interviewed. Fr example: Janet saw a rainbw last mnth. She was driving near the beach and she saw it ver the water. It was very beautiful, and she was very excited when she saw it. 17

8 Gerund & Infinitive Game 7.5 Bard Game (Text pages 92 93) OU GR PS ACTIVITY MASTERS 8 & 60 The Activity Students play a bard game that fcuses n verbs fllwed by gerunds and infinitives. Getting Ready Students will d this activity in grups. Make a cpy f Activity Master 60 (Gerund & Infinitive Game) fr each grup. Each grup will need a die. Yu can duplicate Activity Master 8 (Game Cube) t make a die fr each grup, r students can use a cin. Each player will als need a marker (a buttn r anything small). 1. Divide the class int small grups. 2. Give a cpy f the Gerund & Infinitive Game t each grup. Als prvide each grup with a die and markers. If students use a cin as a die, the class shuld decide which side f the cin will indicate a mve f ne space and which will indicate a mve f tw spaces. 3. Have students place their markers n Start. The grup shuld decide wh ges first. That student begins the game by rlling the cube (r flipping the cin) and mving his r her marker. If the student respnds t the questin r task crrectly, he r she may take ne mre turn. (The grup decides if the respnse is crrect.) If the student desn t respnd crrectly, the next student takes a turn. N ne may take mre than tw turns at a time. Optin 1: The first persn t reach Finish is the winner. Optin 2: The game cntinues until each student reaches Finish. This way everybdy is a winner. 37
