Creating new assets and enhancing our existing strengths is the fundamental objective of any chamber. A community s assets are not only its capital investments in building and equipment, but just as importantly, it includes its talent, schools, neighborhoods, civic engagement and culture. Of all things that make a community strong, assets are some of the most important and the Bartlett Chamber s role is to accentuate these positive attributes. We can easily point to continuous accolades that Bartlett receives on a regional and national level. We can say that within the span of one decade, we became the epicenter of the medical device industry in Tennessee. Our citizens can take pride in our reputation as a safe and clean city with one of the state s best performing school systems. Yet, among all these great achievements, our entrepreneurial spirit must be recognized as one of our more enduring assets. This can do attitude has created new wealth and has been a welcome benefactor to the community. The BACC takes every opportunity to showcase our business community and 2019 will be no exception. Objectives for 2019: Define and Identify Bartlett s Assets Enhance existing collateral by accentuating the Assets of Bartlett Promote Bartlett statewide, regionally and nationally

2 2 Membership Never never underestimate the power of Your Chamberof Commerce! A flourishing membership is the lifeblood of the BACC. Many aspects of the Bartlett community would be underserved without the involvement of the BACC and its dedicated members. In order to grow depth of membership and to allow the BACC to better serve the Bartlett community, we continue to seek new ways to engage the community and draw new members to the BACC. This year will be no exception. The BACC is committed to being responsive and pro-active with its members. We continue to study trends and other local factors in order to provide the best quality of services possible GOALS 750 members (7% increase) 1,000 attendees at monthly luncheons maintain capacity 85 business calls (13% increase) $210,000 membership income Revamp Travel with the Chamber 500 Business After Hours attendees Restructure Staying Ahead of the Curve Conduct Membership Survey Hot Deals (10% increase)

3 3 Economic Development The BACC is focused on Bartlett s core strengths including life sciences, advanced manufacturing/technology, retail and hospitality. With the development of TCAT s new training center and the continued growth of the medical device industry, the BACC is working to reinforce Bartlett s claim as the epicenter of the medical device industry. The BACC is an active partner with the city to help identify and make available prime commercial property. As new businesses are attracted to town, the need for housing, retail and restaurants increase. The BACC continues to market the area s advantages and strengths in order to position Bartlett as a dynamic commercial and retail center PROJECTIONS & GOALS $100 Million in new capital investments, 400 New jobs, 150 new housing starts 210 New business licenses, an upward trend with property & sales tax revenues BACC Goal 200 existing business calls BACC Goal $250K in strategic investors BACC Goal Maintain a retail vacancy rate between three - five %. Workforce Development remains a primary focus for the BACC. A partnership between the BACC and GMMDC has resulted in bringing the new $17M, 50,000 sq. ft TCAT facility to Bartlett. Market and promote Bartlett as a worldwide medical device epicenter. Work with commercial landowners and developers to attract industrial & commercial users. Evaluate funding opportunities from the State of TN and TVA for the development of commercial and industrial properties. Continue the partnership with GMACW with implementing the Move/Hire grant with U.S. DOL whose aim is to create jobs for the underemployed. Assist the GMMDC and local education centers with creating a sustainable pipeline of skilled workers. Enhance the image and mission of the Shelby Chambers of Commerce Alliance for economic development. Engage with Retail Strategies Group to gain insight on monthly progress and strategic goals. Develop a relationship with Bartlett Station Multi-tenant property owners to encourage a sustainable long-term strategy. Enhance the retail corridor from the Wolfchase area westward towards the historic Bartlett Station area.

4 4 Marketing & PR Business has only two functions - #marketing and innovation. A major focus for the Chamber is marketing to the community which includes: 1) BACC members 2) existing residents and businesses, 3) prospective homeowners and 4) vacationers and travelers. Marketing both externally and internally to the membership is critical for a healthy and sustainable Chamber. Updates and improvements with all BACC mediums are an on-going objective. BACC websites and social media outlets are constantly utilized and reviewed for the most informative and effective means of communication possible. The BACC maintains excellent relations with all media outlets and actively seeks opportunities to have membership and the City of Bartlett featured. Websites created and maintained by the BACC: Travel with the Chamber is being offered by the BACC for the eighth consecutive year. This popular program attracts travelers throughout the region and many are repeat participants. The BACC hopes to partner its 2018 marketing efforts with major media outlets in order to reach and even larger audience.

5 5 Community & Public Policy The BACC serves as a bridge between local, state and federal government in order to inform, advise and critique how area businesses may be impacted by certain issues. Although the BACC remains neutral regarding political affiliations, it adheres to the belief that society must strive for the greater good for all. The BACC actively helps to form or seek alliances with organizations that can provide resources and/or funding for the benefit of both the community and its membership.

6 Events & Products Chamber events are an effective way to help members increase their visibility throughout the area. Whether it be through sponsorships or other forms of participations, the intent is to help businesses connect and grow. We believe key ingredients to success include working hard and having fun. The BACC hosts several events throughout the year in order to provide excellent venues for members to market themselves and also offer an experience to be enjoyed by all. Creating jobs and working toward the greater good is a worthwhile endeavor and in the process, the BACC and its members have the pleasure of building friendships and experiencing the camaraderie of commerce BACC Events 2018 Stakeholders Cup Golf Tournament The Women s Connection Luncheon & Expo Bartlett Business Expo Health & Home BACC Membership Gala 2019 Marketing Goals Raise an additional 10% in revenue for events and sponsorships. Achieve a 5% increase in revenue for Bartlett Insights magazine and affinity programs. Increase media coverage for membership and BACC by 10%. Increase social media and website analytics by 10%.
