As you already know, this ending year 2006 is an important year for Fimet as we celebrate our 25th anniversary. In this issue our managing director Mr. Timo Janhunen sends you his greetings and thanks for your cooperation during the past quarter of a century. Also there is a brief history of Fimet included, explaining in more detail where we come from and what has made Fimet the company we are today. During this past year we have been very busy, as we have introduced two new models to the market, to celebrate our 25 years. First the F1 Mondo was introduced and now we are also introducing the F1 EUROPA, the newest addition to our budget dental units line. PLEASE READ MORE ABOUT THE F1 EUROPA IN THIS ISSUE!! Again, with the F1 EUROPA we aim to provide you with MORE FOR LESS!! Also in this issue we will concentrate on our extensive line of HYGIENE OPTIONS, that are available for Fimet F1 chairs and units. In fact, it is more or less the time it takes for a new human generation to grow from childhood to adulthood. 25 years ago was born and you could say that during all these years we, as a company, have grown from childhood to adulthood as well. We have had our ups and downs, we have gathered experience, know-how and wisdom, we have conquered difficulties and we have enjoyed many successes. In 25 years we have grown from a small garage company to being a recognized global player and technology leader in the dental business. It has been a long journey, but like any 25 year old young adult could tell you, we feel, that we are still only at the beginning of our life, full of energy and enthusiasm, looking into the future, knowing that great things and achievements are ahead of us. We look forward to the future with confidence, knowing that we are supported by You: our customers, friends and partners worldwide. I believe, that together we will make the next quarter of a century even more successful! I would like to thank you all personally and on behalf of everybody here at Fimet from the bottom of my heart, for making this long journey possible! 2 FIMET 25 YEARS A BRIEF HISTORY was founded on the 30th of September In the first years we manufactured upholsteries for dental chairs as well as did subcontracting for various plastic parts, working out of a garage in Monninkylä,. In addition we engaged in a variety of product development projects concerning plastics manufacturing. In 1987 we began the product development of the F1 dental chair and the first product reached the market at the beginning of The F1 dental unit followed two years later. Fimet finally had its own products and they were very innovative and ahead of their time. In 1991 we closed a license assembly contract with the company Chirana Stara-Tura from Tchechoslovakia. As a result, between 1992 and 1997 Fimet delivered the parts for almost F1 chairs and 200 F1 units to Chirana. This meant a period of strong growth for Fimet. In 1992 Fimet started partnership negotiations with a dental company from Shanghai. As a result, in 1994 the new joint-venture company received its Chinese business license and in 1996 the president of, Mr. Martti Ahtisaari opened the factory of Shanghai Fimet Medical Instrument Co. in a festive ceremony. We had now become a real international player in the dental business. As the result of product development done between 1995 and 1998 Fimet introduced a completely new product category, the iox digital X-ray sensor systems. The second generation sensor product, the iox2 system entered the market in Today Fimet is a company of more than 50 employees and 2500 m² factory space in and another 2500 m² and 75 employees in China. Almost everything, including metal-, plastic-, as well as electronic components are manufactured in our own highly automated factories. Fimet takes care of production for European and Middle-Eastern markets and Fimet Shanghai handles the remaining markets, in cooperation with Fimet. Both Fimet and Fimet Shanghai products are ISO 9001 as well as CE certified to back up our quality promise. Fimet s actions always have based on high quality, quick deliveries and most importantly, taking into account the customers needs. As a consequence almost all of our products today are highly customized according to individual customer needs. In fact we very rarely deliver two products that are alike. INTRODUCING THE F1 EUROPA MORE FOR LESS Like you remember, earlier this year we introduced to you our new standard (budget) model, the F1 MONDO. It s acceptance has been excellent and we have had more orders for the Mondo than we ever were expecting. We realized, that simple, yet highquality products like this are hot on the market right now. As a result, we decided to put together another, a little more sophisticated, yet still attractively priced model. The result is the F1 EUROPA. I guess you could call it the big brother of the Mondo. The main difference being, that the F1 EUROPA is electrically controlled, as the F1 MONDO is a pneumatic unit. Also compared to the Mondo the F1 EUROPA contains a somewhat wider option list. The F1 EUROPA is designed to be easy to maintain and to service and is priced very attractively. Yet it incorporates Fimet quality with top ergonomy, hygiene and reliability as do all other more sophisticated Fimet F1 models. The EUROPA is manufactured at the Fimet factory in Monninkylä,. 4 25 YEARS CELEBRATION OFFER FOR F1 HYGIENE OPTIONS Hygiene issues are more and more important to dental professionals worldwide. In fact, they have become the hot topic of today s modern dentistry. As Fimet always strives to stay in the forefront of development, all Fimet F1 dental chairs and units are equipped with extensive hygiene improving features by default. Many of them are standard features and automatically included in all F1 products. However, many more hygiene options can be chosen from our extensive list. Ask for very special offer for dealers for every new F1 Chair + Unit Set. (*) 1. Extra F1 Septicovers, autoclavable, silicone covers protecting the instrument head and assistant element and their finger touch pads from contaminating instruments and touch. 2. F1 Septispray, a bottle for desinfection liquid or pure water to desinfect the unit water lines. 3. F1 Cleanwater bottle, same bottle as above, but supplying liquid or pure water to glass filling as well. 4. F1 Steriflow, a valve on instrument head to dispense osmotic surgical liquid to surgical micromotor from a plastic bag hanging on the light arm (compare with the peristaltic pump). 5. F1 Peristaltic pump, a pump on instrument head to dispense osmotic liquid to the surgical micromotor from a plastic bag on the instrument head. 6. F1 Autoflush, 3 minutes automatic flush-system for unit- and instrument water lines with instrument holder on the spittoon bowl. 7. F1 Removable instrument hoses (for F1 Traditional units only). 8. F1 Antibackflush and antidrop spray system, the pneumatic block distributing the water for the instruments, prevents backflush of contaminated water to the instruments or drip water after stopping the instrument. F1 City unit, a unit without cuspidor (suctions are located in a separate cabinet system to maximize hygiene) 12. F1 Free water fall (required in Germany), a system, where the incoming water falls 20 mm in free air and is repressurised again before entering the unit. F1 Metasys amalgam separator (F1 DRY MA), a centrifuge based suction filter to remove more than 95% of amalgam. 16. F1 Filter, a suction filter removing more than 80% of amalgam, but not lowering the suction effect. 17. F1 Autoclavable syringe tips and sleeves, a pair of extra tips and sleeves, FREE OF CHARGE. 18. F1 Large outside water filter, a large water, located outside the unit, to increase water quality. 19. F1 OP-lights sensor on/off, hands free system to switch OPlight on and off. 20. F1 Handsfree, unique all function wireless, remote footcontrol. 5 FIMET PRODUCT LINES F1 MONDO AND F1 EUROPA vs. NORMAL F1 MODELS Since the F1 Mondo and now the F1 Europa were added to our product line, there has been some unclarity about pricing, availability of options, sales conditions, ordering, etc. among our customers. Fimet offers two separate product lines, that are also priced separately and have different sales conditions: F1 STANDARD LINE = F1 Mondo and F1 Europa CUSTOM LINE = All other Fimet F1 models The concept of the STANDARD LINE is based on a higher level of standardization and fewer options of the product, along with stricter sales conditions. These factors allow us to keep production and handling costs on a lower level, resulting in a very attractive final price. The Mondos and the Europas are produced on stock. Therefore it is not possible for us to modify the products upon request, as much as we can modify the CUSTOM LINE products. This means, that with STANDARD LINE products the options list available is much shorter than with CUSTOM LINE. Also the sales conditions for the STANDARD LINE are stricter. These factors together allow us to keep the prices for the STAN- DARD LINE products very attractive, to your benefit. All CUSTOM LINE products are built according to order and to specifications as agreed with our customers. These products are never built to stock. Every chair and unit is built individually after receiving the order. This of course, gives the possibility to use the full spectrum of options, to modify and to build many kinds of special solutions. Maybe the most visible difference between these two separate product lines are the price list and specifications. With the STANDARD LINE the price list is fixed and only a given amount of possible options is given on these lists. With the CUSTOM LINE products however the full Fimet price- and options list is to be used and every customer can create his own dental unit + chair package. Please see the attached lists for more info. NEW FIMET MONITOR New medical grade display from AG Neovo is available for F1 Units. This display will replace the monitor used before. The Neovo monitor is available in black and white colors. It has the following features: Distinctive aluminum alloy housing for added strength Optical glass with reflection filter Swift 4ms response time High 500 contrast ratio Modern design
