1 Jb Descriptin Jb Title: Cmmunity Relatins and Cmmunicatins Manager Department: Develpment and Missin Advancement Reprts T: Vice President f Develpment and Missin Advancement FLSA Status: Exempt Updated Date: 1/19 Apprved By: President/Executive Directr Apprved Date: 1/19 JOB SUMMARY: The Cmmunity Relatins and Cmmunicatins Manager leads effrts t cultivate, steward, engage, infrm, cmmunicate with, and activate stakehlders, the Bard, the cmmunity, dnrs, supprters, partners, and vlunteers t fulfill and sustain the missin f Cburn Place. The Manager represents the cre values and missin f the rganizatin and is a member f the management team. The Manager may serve as a spkespersn fr Cburn Place in the absence f the Executive Directr. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the fllwing. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Develps and implements best-practices and prcesses fr nn-prfit branding, public relatins, cmmunity engagement, marketing, media, and cmmunicatins. 2. Serves as the liaisn t the media and manages the media strategies fr Cburn t maximize earned r purchased pprtunities. Arranges the apprpriate and relevant persn (with verall apprval by the Pres/ED) fr media interviews/statements. 3. Creates, manages, and measures utcmes-based strategic plan and cntent calendar with metrics fr cmmunicatins, scial media, website, marketing, media and public relatins which significantly enhances Cburn Place s recgnitin, cmmunity branding, and image in Central Indiana, and at the state and natinal levels. Develps strategies and metrics in cnjunctin with the Develpment VP and the Pres/ED. Prvides mnthly metric reprts t Dept Directr, Pres/ED, and Bard f Directrs. 4. Creates, psts and prvides versight t Cburn s apprved scial media and website cntent. Manages and measures engagement and interactins with Cburn s scial media presence in a manner that aligns with the cmpany s missin, values, and philsphy. Ensures the Cburn plicies regarding scial media are fllwed. Wrks with Data & Tech Manager t ensure the website template is relevant and engaging and dmains are kept current and prtected. 5. Creates, develps, and is verall respnsible fr graphics, phtgraphy, and vide design elements which prmte Cburn s missin, message, and brand. Establishes prprietary wnership when pssible. 6. Gathers success/impact stries and likeness frm staff, survivrs, vlunteers, dnrs, and stakehlders ensuring media/infrmatin releases are in place indicating permissin t use. 7. Creates and designs direct mail and/r electrnic mail appeals, rtating signatures, newsletters, annual reprt, thank yu letters/ntes, scial media cntent, news releases, pinin editrials, graphic design pieces, website cntent, and any ther marketing, visual (vide/phtgraphy), r print related material while ensuring the vice/language/pint f view f 1

Wrks with Office Manager and Data & Technlgy Manager t ensure the timely, accurate, and seamless distributin f direct and electrnic mail, newsletters, gratitude/thank yu, stewardship, and/r slicitatin materials accrding t segmentatin designatin fr intended cmmunicatins. 9. Frequently cmmunicates with stakehlders (bard, staff, clients/frmer clients, and funders/supprters/dnrs) including expressins f gratitude, recgnitin, cndlences, cngratulatins, and appreciatin that include mailings, letters, cards, small tkens, newsletters and reprts. 10. Serves as the internal liaisn t the Ambassadr Grup (speakers bureau) and wrks with it t develp cntent fr, schedule presentatins and awareness events t and fr a diverse and brad array f pprtunities that align with Cburn s missin and intended audiences. Recruit, engage, manage, train, set metric gals and measures fr the verall Ambassadr Grup. 11. Develps, implements and evaluates an utcmes-based cmmunity engagement plan designed t: Engage individuals and familial, crprate, civic, and faith-based grups t dnate (r discunt) their time, talent, services, items, and resurces. Mves-manage existing vlunteers and in-kind dnrs int financial dnrs when authentic t the desire f the vlunteer. Create and cnduct pprtunities fr cmmunity engagement and awareness, based n field research and lcal interest trends, including: Cburn Cnversatins, annual Open Huse, facilities turs, Indig (Cburn s Yung Prfessinals grup), Cburn Ambassadrs, third-party events, vlunteer recruitment, Wish List drives, presentatins and awareness events abut Cburn Place and/r interpersnal abuse related/intersectinal tpics. 12. Schedules and cnducts cmmunity presentatins and awareness events abut Cburn Place and/r interpersnal abuse related/intersectinal tpics incrprating relevant CP staff, CP Ambassadr, Bard member, vlunteer, r cmmunity presenters/speakers. 13. Creates (in cnjunctin with the Vlunteer Crdinatr, the Office/Inventry Manager, and with input frm ther departments) and publishes Wish Lists t recruit needed items and services. Cmmunicates the when and hw in-kind dnatins ccur accrding t intake/handling prcesses established by Office/Inventry Manager. Refers item dnatin pledges t Office and Inventry Manager fr scheduling f drp-ff/pick up and inventry handling/prcessing. Refers inkind service/discunt pledge t apprpriate Dept head. Ensures pledge/dnatin is dcumented fr gratitude/stewardship/acknwledgment prcess. 14. Oversees vlunteer engagement effrts by: Managing the Vlunteer Crdinatr t recruit, rient, train, and assign vlunteers. Ensures an nging vlunteer recgnitin and retentin prgram is prvided. Identifies pprtunities fr vlunteers and resurces and cmmunicates these prspects t staff. Actively engages prgram vlunteers by prviding adequate supervisin and jb-related training. 2

Ensures cmpliance with ICADV/ICJI established Peer Review standards regarding vlunteer management, cmmunity engagement, and cmmunicatins. 16. Participates in the Bard s Develpment and Marketing Cmmittee(s). 17. Represents Cburn in relevant cmmunity wrk grups and cmmittees. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This jb supervises the Vlunteer Crdinatr and cmmunity relatins and cmmunicatins related individual and grup vlunteers and interns. Incumbent carries ut supervisry respnsibilities in accrdance with the rganizatin's plicies and applicable laws. Respnsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training emplyees; planning, assigning, and directing wrk; scheduling and apprving time wrked; appraising perfrmance; rewarding and disciplining emplyees; addressing cmplaints and reslving prblems. EDUCATION and/r EXPERIENCE: Bachelr s Degree (B.A./B.S.) in cmmunicatins, marketing, jurnalism, vlunteer management, public relatins, r ther related field; and tw plus year s related experience and/r training; r equivalent cmbinatin f educatin and experience is required. Previus media relatins, scial media management, and cmmunicatins experience is required. Previus experience in a nn-fr-prfit envirnment where wrking with a Bard f Directrs was essential t the peratins f the rganizatin is desired. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability t read, analyze, and interpret cmmn scientific and technical jurnals, financial reprts, and legal dcuments. Ability t respnd t cmmn inquiries r cmplaints frm custmers, regulatry agencies, r members f the business cmmunity.
