2 Director s corner When there is an emergency, people are well-trained to dial for help. The Lottery s version of that number is I am not suggesting in any way that if you have a fire or medical emergency or are in need of police support that you call the Lottery. But if you have any problems with Lottery terminals, tickets, inventories, etc., you should contact the Lottery s Retailer Services staff (also known as Hotline). There are a number of reasons to make Retailer Services your first call for Lottery-related issues. Each call that comes in to that toll-free number is carefully documented and tracked by Lottery staff. This helps us identify if the issue is an isolated problem or something more widespread. Or, as it was with the DaVinci Diamonds game on the IGT Game King Video Lottery terminal, those calls helped indicate that the problem was not confined to one or two retailers. Those calls helped signal a trend and not just a player getting very lucky. When such a trend is identified, we make every attempt to move as quickly as possible to verify the problem and then take appropriate action. In the case of DaVinci Diamonds, multiple retailer calls to Retailer Services prompted us to convene a meeting to discuss the situation and options, and develop an immediate course of action. 3 Winning Win for Life Ticket Sold at a Salem 7-Eleven! Bonnie Goltz of Salem has owned the 7-Eleven on Lancaster Drive for over 22 years. It is a familyrun business with a long history of great customer service. Bonnie s location in particular had something to be proud of when they sold a winning $1,000 a-week-forlife Win for Life ticket to Eric Cottrell. Eric said, I am still purchasing tickets from this location, even after my big win. Bonnie and her staff prominently place winner banners throughout the establishment, which serve as a conversation piece for visiting customers. Some players have been overheard saying, This must be the place to buy Lottery tickets! as they admire the banners. In addition, the 7-Eleven employees work toward up selling all games and staying on top of their product knowledge. When this location has a big winner like Eric, they inform other players and draw attention to the banners, which helps to increase sales. Bonnie says, Our location provides great customer service and really embraces the publicity that sales of winning tickets generate.
