Retailers around the globe are choosing private label as their preferred strategy to build their names and their bottom line. Big or small, they are using their own brands to differentiate themselves and create consumer loyalty. The latest consumer research indicates that nearly one-third of all consumers now consider themselves frequent store brand shoppers with more than half saying that their retailer's brands taste as good or perform as well as well-known national brands. In the U.S., there is a show that is devoted entirely to store brands. It's the 2006 PLMA Trade Show and it is visited by a large number of manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, brokers, and trade suppliers each year to keep up with trends and products in private label. The visitors to the show are all genuine buyers from hyper stores, supermarkets, drug chains, mass merchandisers, importers, exporters, dollar stores, convenience stores, department stores, wholesalers of all kinds, even military exchanges. For more than 25 years it has been the industry event of the year. It is the show where retailers go not only to see the products, but to get the latest in market research and merchandising ideas. More than a thousand private label companies would be visiting the show from various sector viz., Fresh, frozen and refrigerated foods, snacks, beverages, ethnic specialties and gourmet lines. On the non-food side, kitchen and household, health and beauty, DIY and GM. Plus, more than 15 international pavilions. In addition, the show hosts 15 international and regional pavilions. Advertising space is also available for companies who wish to promote their booth locations and products. Preliminary Buyers List:

4 Exhibitors receive a preliminary buyers list 30 days prior to the show. This list includes pre-registered retailers and wholesalers and is intended to help you arrange appointments in advance. Preview for Buyers: Category-by-category breakdown of products are sent to all registered retail and wholesale visitors 30 days in prior to the show to help them find exhibitors that they want to see. PLMA provides buyers with a special category-by-category online search function to identify appropriate exhibitors. Exhibit Products: FOOD: Fresh bakery, baking ingredients, ready-to-drink, coffee, tea & powdered drinks, dairy foods, frozen & refrigerated foods, potato chips, popcorns & pretzels, nuts, fruits & other snacks, candies, cookies & crackers, sauces, dressings, oils & dips, spice & seasonings, condiments, syrups & spreads, deserts, pudding & toppings, cereals, pasta, rice, prepared foods & side dishes, canned foods, baby food, health, diabetic & organic food products. HEALTH & BEAUTY CARE: Baby care, feminine & adult care products, OTC, Vitamins & supplements, hair care products, skin care products, cosmetics, toiletries, health care and first aid. PET PRODUCTS: Pet food & treats, pet accessories/supplies. Non members add surcharge based on maximum membership dues. Registration Charges: A non-refundable registration fee of Rs.10,000/- is being charged by FIEO towards secretarial charges The interested exporters are requested to send Rs. 25,000/- (non-refundable) as the initial charges for booth booking along with the passport details of the representative attending the show and the request for space allotment for registration by cheque/demand draft payable to FIEO at par in Mumbai on or before 30th June, 2006 and the balance not later than July 15, It may be noted that as FIEO will be making advance payment to the organizers, for booking of stalls, no refund will be allowed for the space confirmed by the exporters under any circumstances.
