3 Prgramme Outline The purpse f this prgram is t intrduce business analysts striving t certify prfessinally, t the relevant bdy f knwledge that will enable them t d s. The prgram intrduces students t the Internatinal Institute f Business Analysis (IIBA ) and the A Guide t the Business Analysis Bdy f Knwledge (BABOK Guide) that is required fr the certificatin. The prgramme includes 3 sessins: Sessin 1 Business Analysis Essentials fcusses n the business analysis dmain, the rle f the IIBA and the BABOK Guide, and deals with 2 f the all-encmpassing knwledge areas f the BABOK Guide. Sessin 2 Advanced Business Analysis takes students thrugh an end-t-end business analysis delivery cycle, frm prject inceptin, thrugh t a pst-implementatin review f prject success. The sessin highlights the rle and deliverables f many business analysts and presents the remaining BABOK Guide knwledge areas. Sessin 3 Business Analysis Certificatin Prep prepares students t take the IIBA certificatin exams by walking students thrugh BABOK Guide, its structure, cntent and value. The prgramme cvers cncepts frm bth a theretical perspective, thrugh instructr-led training, and a practical perspective, thrugh grup discussins and exercises. Exercises are perfrmed in multiple ways: Whle Grup (WG) all students in the class participate as a single grup Small Grups (SG) small grups f students (3 6 students per grup) Individual (IND) students wrk individually t carry ut exercises Instructr Facilitated (IF) instructr leads the discussins It is nt necessary fr students t attend all 3 sessins hwever it is recmmended; this prvides students a hlistic understanding f significant business analysis ideas and applicatins. 4 Sessin 1 Business Analysis Essentials (2 days) This sessin intrduces the main business analysis cncepts required in the perfrmance f day-t-day business analysis tasks. It further explres principles that are integral t all business analysis wrk, irrespective f prject stage. Day 1 presents an intrductin t business analysis, the IIBA and its BABOK Guide, and the all-imprtant artifact called a Requirement. Day 2 utlines hw t elicit requirements and nce elicited, hw t manage the requirement frm inceptin t retirement. 10 Sessin 2 Advanced Business Analysis (2 days) This sessin defines key business analysis deliverables, cntents theref and suitable techniques t enable delivery f the utputs f the business analysis wrk effrt. Day 1 utlines tasks necessary t gain an understanding f the business and prduce a business case. Fllwing apprval f a business case, a business analyst must plan their wrk t deliver the apprved prject. The tasks required t d this are utlined in the Requirements Management and Quality Plan. Day 2 appreciates the detail necessary t prduce a high quality, integrated Requirements Package that can be used as the basis f slutin delivery. Fllwing the slutin delivery, the necessary evaluatin f the slutin must take place t ensure that business needs are met by the slutin. A case study will be prvided as pre-reading fr the sessin s that students can initiate wrk n the exercises as quickly as pssible.
