4 Summary fr the Open Call ABOUT is lking fr new crss-sectrial health slutins fr persnalized health. T achieve this purpse, will invest 3.75 Millin EUR with the aim t fster cllabratin, transfer f knwledge and pprtunities amng Eurpean SMEs fr different cuntries and sectrs in rder t develp, imprve and deliver disruptive technlgies fr persnalized health. Mre specifically, aims t supprt prjects based n the cmbinatin f ICT, BIO, Health and Medical sectrs fr the benefit f ageing ppulatins and rural areas that incrprate mhealth technlgies. main bjective is that SMEs with mutually reinfrcing cmpetencies can be supprted in view f creating new industrial value chains that fster the develpment f emerging industries in Eurpe. T this end, is specifically carrying n a large number f activities: 2 Cntest Idea Events and assciated Open Calls fr team prfile matching and cmpetitin. Best ideas will be funded and a specific 3-mnths fast innvatin pipeline prvided as pt in, n tp f the nrmal acceleratin prgram. 3 Hacktathns and 3 Btcamps with SME patrnage cmpetitins. Direct prizes fr best ideas. Fcussed lectures, wrkshps, webinars and different event frmats used and emplyed fr achieving bjectives. Innvatin vuchers, prizes and ther measures fr direct supprt. Starting n the 1 st f January 2017, the prject has a duratin f 2.5 years and is supprted by Hrizn 2020, the EU Framewrk Prgram fr Research and Innvatin. First Open Call 1st Open Call fr innvative prjects in persnalized healthcare will be pen frm the 15th f June until the 30th f September Up t 25 best ideas frm SMEs will be selected t enrl int an Acceleratin Prgramme where each team will btain supprt wrth up t 50,000 (equity-free) per prject, distributed as fllws: 30,000 direct cash funding. Up t 10,000 as innvatin vuchers t be spent in services prvided by external prviders validated by Cnsrtium. Up t in additinal services prvided by cnsrtium partners based n SMEs needs. Further, up t 25 finalist prjects will be selected and receive up t 10,000 in innvatin services per prject; this includes: Up t 5,500 as innvatin vuchers t be spent in services prvided by external prviders validated by Cnsrtium. 4

The Acceleratin Prgramme will start in December 2017, and during 9 mnths will prvide financial supprt and ffer expert knwledge. Furthermre a 3 mnths Fast Lane Prgramme will be ffered t 5 teams f the Open Call. The acceleratin prgram is nn-residential; all cllabratin with teams will be dne remtely. The 25 best prjects in the ranking are named awarded ; the 25 runner ups (psitin 26-50) in the ranking are named finalists. 1. The challenges t tackle The first Open Call, is pen t smart health slutins based n cmbinatin f ICT, BIO, Health and Medicine sectrs. Prpsed slutins shuld slve r meet the needs f ageing ppulatins in rural and urban areas. Fr this first Open Call seeks prpsals t address at least ne f the fllwing prpsed challenges: 1. ICT and health - The challenge is t help ageing ppulatins remain independent and active in their cmmunities (especially rural and remte nes) with ICT-based assistive slutins. These slutins shuld be accessible t cnsumers (the silver ecnmy) and institutinal health care prviders and prmte participatin f stakehlders in the care cntinuum. They als need t be interperable and secure whether the slutin is an mhealth r ehealth. 2. Bitech and health As peple age they becme mre susceptible t chrnic diseases and c-mrbidities (e.g. cancer and diabetes). The challenge is t use bitechnlgy t supprt an apprach t care that is predictive, preventative and persnalised. This encmpasses diagnsis, prgnsis, treatment ptins. In practical terms the benefits range frm early detectin f disease cnditins, better infrmed and persnalised clinical decisins in diagnsis and treatment and empwered patients with effective shared care plans. 3. Slutins generated by end-users need identificatin We are seeing a shift frm industry-driven prducts t nes that are mre demand-driven by the end-user. This might invlve the c-design f slutins as well as their testing. With this challenge, we are seeking slutins that builds n an riginal idea generated frm (i) smene wrking within r (ii) a patient(s) treated by - a service alng the health and scial care cntinuum. In particular, we are interested in prducts and prcesses that are mre affrdable and less invasive. Applicants need t engage ne r mre f these specific challenges in rder t be an eligible candidate. 5

Applicatin requirements The requirements t participate in the Open Call prcess are as fllws: - Teams will have t address the challenges f the Open Call. - Teams must be cmpsed f at least 2 legal entities frm an EU r assciate cuntry - Teams must be led by an SME. - The prpsed innvatin prject must include crss ver between sectrs namely ITC, BIO, Medical and target addressing listed Health challenges in the first pen call. - Extra pints in the evaluatin, if team represents legal entities frm 2 different cuntries - Extra pints in the evaluatin, if the team is cmpsed by at least 2 SMEs. - Extra pints if the Prject Leader has been awarded the EC Seal f Excellence in the 12 mnths preceding call launch. In rder t help participants t search fr partners, a matchmaking prtal will be available n the web page. 3. Applicatin prcess In rder t participate in the Open Call prcess, applicatin frm must cntain: - The Prpsal has t fllw the templates prvided fr this purpse: Max. 10 pages prject applicatin: the dcument must cntain the idea and verall cncept, including the state f develpment and the state-f-theart. Als, a descriptin f the technlgy and tls expected t be used, as well as the expected impact in the field at glbal level. The prpsal must cntain in turn a shrt wrk-plan describing and explaining the methdlgy t be develped and the implementatin f the prject it needs t be made clear hw supprt will make a difference. A ne-page Lean Business Canvas (as Annex I f the prpsal) fr which a template is prvided. - Max. 10 slides pitch: the dcument must be very synthetic and cntain the name and lg f yur cmpany, the prject idea, the prblem that yu are trying t slve and the slutin that yu are implementing, the advantages f yur prject idea, the main aspects f the team, data f the market pprtunity, a descriptin f yur cmpetitrs, the revenue mdel and marketing strategy, and 3-5 years f financial prjectins and the investment that yu need. A pitch deck template is prvided as a guide fr this purpse. - Shrt Vide (2 min max.): beneficiaries are encuraged t prvide a shrt vide t intrduce the team, prviding infrmatin abut the key persnnel invlved in the prject and the cmplementarity f the prfiles. - Declaratin f Hnur: the beneficiaries must certify that all infrmatin prvided is crrect. They must als be cmpletely cmmitted t participate in the prject that they are submitting and cmply with the eligibility criteria. The declaratin f hnur states als that this very same prject prpsal des nt receive funds elsewhere. 6

7 Other practical aspects t take int accunt: - English is the fficial language fr the pen calls. - Prpsal submissin will be dne thrugh webpage ( 4. Evaluatin prcess Prpsals will be reviewed firstly by the cnsrtium members, and prpsals that fit the eligibility criteria will be pre-selected. In a secnd stage, the pre-selected prpsals will be evaluated by independent experts accrding t the fllwing criteria: - Innvatin f the idea (1-10 pints) - Team and cmpetitive advantage (1-10 pints) - Ptential Impact (1-10 pints) - Grwth plan during and beynd and beynd supprt perid (1-10 pints) - Fit with pririties (1-10 pints) - Implementatin Plan (1-10 pints) - Overall impressin and presentatin (1-10 pints) The evaluatin results will be cmmunicated t applicants within tw mnths frm the call clsure. A ranking list accrding t the results f the expert s evaluatin will be made and these results will be cmmunicated t the 1 st Open Call applicants, via Selected teams Selected teams will be requested t sign a Sub-Grant Agreement and t submit prf f: - Legal existence - Financial statement - CEO s IDs - Bank infrmatin accunt - Internal cnsrtium agreement. All dcumentatin fr grant preparatin is t be submitted electrnically via . The cnsrtium may request translatin f dcuments submitted in a language that cannt be prcessed by the cnsrtium partners. Languages that can be prcessed: English, French, German, Spanish, Catalan, Italian, Plish, Bulgarian, Greek, Prtuguese, Nrwegian, Danish, Swedish). 6. Mnitring teams and financial fllw-up Selected teams will have access t 2 types f supprt: - each team will be supprted by a Key Accunt Manager (KAM) assigned by the prject Mnitring Cmmittee. The KAM will be cmmitted t helping each team t perfrm gap analysis and assist with selecting innvatin supprt services prvided by external prviders and cnsrtium participants. The KAM will be a single pint f cntact fr all sub-granted prject management issues thrughut the acceleratin perid best ideas teams will btain supprt wrth up t 50,000 distributed as fllws: 7

8 Direct funding (30k) will be lump sum. The direct funding will be distributed in three payments: - 10,000 as pre-financing; - 10,000 at mid-term, in case f green light n the review f prgress achieved; - 10,000 at prject end, in case f successful cmpletin and achievement f prpsed results. Each team will have t deliver mid-term and final reviews f planned milestnes in rder t receive the respective payments. The innvatin vuchers (Up t 10,000 ) can be used in services prvided by external prviders. Thse services will be available n the hmepage.
