1 Dear Candidate: I m looking for an engaging Business Development Specialist for our Reseller team at The Douglas Stewart Company. This is a fancy way of saying I m looking for an individual who will be championing a category of Vendors to our customers (Large Account Resellers and Value Added Resellers) who are located throughout the US from our office here in beautiful Madison, WI. The individual does NOT need sales experience, which sounds strange since the position is a Sales role however, it helps to understand the nature of the career field. I am looking for someone who has all the attributes, skillsets and mental make up to be a great communicator, team player and is passionate about helping our customers understand an emerging category of solutions within the Education market. We have a fun and engaging team and your fit is critical! We offer full training and work with our employees to help them become the best they can be. I also expect you to be a self-starter and take ownership of your responsibilities to help us drive great results! Now you re asking, Who is The Douglas Stewart Company? We are a distributor in the education market, in fact the education market is what we are considered a specialist in. We have a passion for education and have been focused on this market space for over 66 years. It s because of our success in the space, many vendors and manufacturers come to us to help them enhance their brand and increase their sales in the education space. Yes, they think we are awesome and trust us to promote their products to the reseller channel. We have earned that privilege by creating a great team who focuses building great relationships with our Reseller customers and supporting our Vendor s needs. This position requires an individual with good communication skills, as you will be communicating daily to our customers through phone, , participating in webinars and attending the occasional trade show. Beyond good communication skills, it s good to have some educational knowledge, heck ex-teachers have been very successful in this position, but just going to school, that s pretty

2 good too! The person should be relationship driven, as this is a very important aspect of the position. Other characteristics the person should have, include, being a good team player (we have 7 people currently on our Reseller Sales Team) and be adaptable as business is changing quicker than ever these days and the Education space is as dynamic as any. I have an open-door policy and try to always make you feel welcome to come and talk about ideas and or problems you are having. We are in this thing together and some of the best ideas come from some of the newest employees. Coaching and teamwork are key elements that go hand in hand yes I will help coach you, but with this specific group, you will probably learn more from those around you than me, which creates a great team environment. Website: Position Summary: The Business Development Specialist is responsible for outreach to resellers to educate, engage and enable their sales teams to onboard new Vendor Partners to successfully sell new/emerging technologies. Primary responsibilities for the role include: Overview of Essential Duties / Functions: Work with the assigned DSC Account Manager to build relationships with targeted reseller team members. Achievement of reseller recruitment targets. Articulate Vendor Partners value proposition. Define target audience. Outline how the solution fits within the Education landscape. Emphasize product/service features and benefits. Work with the DSC Account Manager assigned to the respective reseller to drive awareness campaigns.

4 Work with DSC vendor partners and the assigned Product manager to develop a measurable promotion strategy. Set-up and deliver training/sales presentations via phone and web, product/service demonstrations, and other sales actions as assigned. Track sales activities in CRM. Phone usage is a must, being the most utilized way of communication with customers. Outbound follow-up communications to new and existing customers via telephone and to cross-sell and up-sell. Handling inbound calls. Where necessary, supporting marketing efforts such as trade shows, exhibits, and other events. Education / Experience: 1-3 years inside sales experience, preferably within a Channel or B2B environment. Teaching background preferred. Associates degree preferred or equivalent business experience. 5 Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to occasionally move throughout the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Consistently operates a computer and other office equipment such as a copy machine, computer printer, calculator, etc. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the work-day. Ability to frequently communicate, both verbally and written, with employees, management, vendors and customers.
