RHI Normag produces fused magnesia based on magnesium hydroxid out of seawater. The wet processing plant precipitates magnesia, the dry processing plant calcinates magnesia and in the fusion plant the highest and purest grade of fused magnesia by fusion of synthetically produced magnesium oxide is produced. The annual capacity once up and running at full capacity is 85,000 tons of fused magnesia and is one of the largest fusion plants worldwide. RHI Normag is key in RHI s strategy in increasing the self-sufficiency of raw materials. The plant employes around 120 people.
