2 Overview The Amazon Kindle, introduced in 2007, help define the e-book product category in a way to no predecessor had. Using E Ink electronic paper, the device was capable of displaying text pages in direct sunlight while at the same time minimizing power consumption. Sparking a wave of innovation and competitors, 2009 saw the introduction of the Barnes and Noble Nook. The ipad was introduced in While not a dedicated e-book, the ipad provided a form factor conducive to e-reader applications thereby growing the installed base of e-book capable devices. This growing installed base, along with general improvements in processing power and networking bandwidth, have paved the way for new usage scenarios and capabilities. The following filings explore improvements in navigation using semantic analysis of electronic texts Method, System, And Computer Readable Medium For Detecting Related Subgroups Of Text In A Electronic Document The text of a traditional book is typically organized according to some hierarchical outline. When converted to electronic text, it is possible to detect relationships between the passages of a text in ways that may not be apparent from a tradition. What is needed are algorithms that take into account user preferences when establishing links between the passages of an electronic text. Disclosed herein are systems and methods for navigating electronic texts. According to an aspect, a method may include determining that a user non-linearly navigates between text subgroups within electronic text. The method may also include linking the text subgroups in response to determining that the user non-linearly navigates between the text subgroups. Further, for example, text subgroups within an electronic text may be determined. In this example, a similarity relationship between content of each text subgroup and one or more other text subgroups may be determined for linking the text subgroups Method, System, And Computer Readable Medium For Graphically Displaying Related Text In An Electronic Document It is possible to detect related passages within the body of an electronic text. What is needed is a way to graphically present that presence of those relationship to a user to achieve improved navigation and understanding of the work. Disclosed herein are systems and methods for navigating electronic texts. According to an aspect, a method may include receiving search criteria for searching an electronic text. Further, the method may include determining text subgroups within the electronic text. The method may also include determining, for each text subgroup, a similarity relationship between the search criteria and the text subgroup. Further, the method may include presenting, for each text subgroup, a graphic representing the similarity relationship between the text subgroup and the search criteria. 3 Systems And Methods For Navigating Electronic Texts It is possible to detect related passages within the body of an electronic text, but a first step in this process is to determine the passages. One simple approach to this process would be to select paragraphs within the text. What is needed is an algorithm that starts with a smaller selection of the text, and grows the size of the selection from both ends until other selections are met. Disclosed herein are systems and methods for navigating electronic texts. According to an aspect, a method may include determining text subgroups within an electronic text. The method may also include selecting a text seed within one of the text subgroups. Further, the method may include determining a similarity relationship between the text seed and one or more adjacent text subgroups that do not include the selected text seed. The method may also include associating the text seed with the one or more adjacent text subgroups based on the similarity relationship to create a text cluster Systems And Methods For Applying A Referral Credit To An Entity Account Based On A Geographic Location Of A Computer Device Free shipping, no sales tax, and discount prices have all lead to a shift in consumer buying behavior to the point where a large portion of book sales now take place online. What is needed are mechanisms to lure users back in to physical book stores, and incentives for those same users to buy from the store in association with the visit. Disclosed herein are systems and methods for applying a referral credit to an entity based on a geographic location of a computing device. According to an aspect, a method may include receiving a product identifier and a geographic location identifier of a computing device. The method may also include determining an interface with an online retailer server based on the product identifier. The method may also include applying a referral credit to an entity account associated with the geographic location identifier in response to the determined interface. 4 Systems And Methods For Position-Based Loaning Of Electronic Documents To Electronic Device Users Because of an increasing comfort level with technology, todays younger customers increasing shy away from interacting with a stores sales staff, preferring to do their own discovery, research, and comparisons. Systems and methods for position-based loaning of electronic documents to electronic device users are disclosed herein. According to an aspect, a method may include determining a position of an electronic device. The method may also include determining a registration status associated with the electronic device. Further, the method may include communicating a portion of an electronic document to the electronic device based on the position and the registration status. 8,434,001 Systems And Methods For Presenting A Content Summary of A Media Item To A User Based on A Position Within The Media Item The typical busy consumer does not always have the luxury of reading a book from beginning to end over a short period of time. In at least some situations, the users consumption of the book will be interrupted by varying periods of inactivity. What is needed are mechanisms that understand based on where the user is within a book, and how long they have been away, and generate a content summary to get the user back up to speed before proceeding with the rest of the book. System and methods for presenting a content summary of a media item to a user based on a position within the media item are disclosed herein. According to one aspect, a method may include receiving identification of a position within a media item residing on an electronic device. For example, the identified position may be a bookmarked position within an e-book residing on an e-book reader. The method may also include generating a content summary for a portion of the media item based on identified position. For example, an electronic device may dynamically generate a content summary based on content of the e-book that precedes a bookmarked position. The method may also include presenting the content summary to a user of the electronic device. For example, a display of an electronic device may be controlled to present a content summary to a reader of an e-book. C o n c e r t T e c h n o l o g y

5 System and Method for Suggesting A Pause Position Within Electronic Text In the traditional paradigm of reading a physical book, pause points are sometimes dictated by the chapters and paragraphs of a book. In the new paradigm of e-books, it is possible to take into account the electronically detected structure of the book, as well as the positions of other e- book reader who may be friends of the user, or related in some other context, such as taking the same class at school. What is needed is a system that takes into account all of these contextual clues when suggesting a pause point. Systems and methods for suggesting a pause position within electronic text are disclosed herein. According to an aspect, a method may include receiving identification of a current user position within electronic text residing on an electronic device. For example, a current user position may be a page of an e-book that is currently being displayed to a reader or user. The method may include determining a suggested pause position within the electronic text based on the current user position. For example, the suggested pause position may be determined based on the reader s profile, a reader behavior of other readers, metadata, or combinations thereof. The method may also include presenting the suggested pause position on a user interface of the electronic device System and method for mobile document preview An apparatus is disclosed which includes a communication interface and a controller associated with the communication interface and configured to receive from a device a request for a preview markup of a document including at least one page, determine a level of detail for the preview markup, and analyze at least one layout element and at least one content element of the at least one page to generate the preview markup having the level of detail. 6 System and method for e-book contextual communication A computerized system and method for providing a service that processes a user's edit and reading events to determine one or more electronic book, or e-book, contexts for the user is disclosed. In particular, the service calculates a contextual affinity the user has with other users based on e- book contexts for the e-book contexts. The service may automatically establish voice and/or text communication sessions for users identified as having a significant degree of affinity with the user. Once a communication session is established, a user can conveniently collaborate with other users for which commonly determined contexts are relevant. Moreover, the present disclosure also describes how a user can modify incoming text, voice, and notification messages to have an individualized presentation to other users based upon the degree of contextual affinity between various users Methods and systems for providing information about a narrative A method and system for providing information about a novel. A portion of the novel is displayed on a display. Selections of a first term at a first location and a second term at a second location are received. A current location within the novel is determined. A plurality of relationships between the first term and the second term that have been referred to in the novel prior to the current location is determined, and information about the plurality of relationships is displayed System and method for controlling communications during an E- reader session A gatekeeper function is employed to control communications intended for a target user, who is associated with an electronic reader (e-reader) device. The gatekeeper function detects an attempt for an originating user to communicate with the target user. Upon detecting the attempt to communicate with the target user, the gatekeeper function determines a communication processing action that controls how to handle the communication attempt based on e-reader session information that is collected while the target user is engaged in an e-reader session. The gatekeeper function will then effect the communication processing action to control how the communication attempt is to be handled. C o n c e r t T e c h n o l o g y
