1 Social & digi marketing tips Social media: There are more than 15m active Facebook users in Australia as of Jan This is a larger reach than many TV networks. Consistency is really important - Frequency of posting - Tone of voice - Use consistent image styles/graphics (branding) Engagement. Be sure to engage with your audience. Ask questions, respond to them, share and build a community Authenticity. Give them something of yourself don t make it all about the business. People connect with people. Single minded. Be really clear on what you want to use social media for, and then set goals that relate to that. Don t get caught up in trying to chase everything be single minded. It s a long game. Don t expect to build a community overnight, and don t fall for comment pods or buying followers. You re better having a small engaged audience, than a big audience who don t really care about you. Spend some time with facebook analytics figuring out what works Have one clear objective for each post Make sure it s not all sales messaging but content that educates, inspires and empowers

2 Video marketing and Youtube: - Google predict video will account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic by m videos watched on YouTube daily Be mindful of the time of videos. Generally speaking short and snappy videos are best, but awesome content can get away with a bit longer. Most people will flick past your video in the first three seconds, so be sure to get your key messages and branding in quickly and create interest upfront to hook them in. Be authentic. Don t try to make your videos perfect (you ll get hung up and it will never happen) some of the most popular videos are completely organic and come from the heart. Be purposeful. Know what you want to communicate and stick to it. Build a community using YouTube and video blogs, housing meditations and talks Use tags Make sure keywords are in the titles Upload SRT files Include keywords throughout the script Make appealing thumbnails people want to click on Create videos for the platform e.g. Facebook make things short and snappy and useful without sound, YouTube is more sitback and watch/be educated content

3 Website content and search Having amazing search engine marketing (showing up on google) performance is two parts amazing content based on consumer wants/needs/interest and then one part SEO tactics Search continually evolves and adapts, the results we see are completely different 10 years ago. Keep up to date by following Neil Patel s blog, he has LOTS Of resources in terms of SEO and digital marketing: 33% of searches will click on the 1st position within organic search and 92% won't go past the first page results Use tools to research topics to write about (answer the public, google adwords, SEMrush paid). Understanding more about your target market takes the guess work out of creating content on your website Schema code (Structured Data) is important as it pulls out key information for search engines/people to easily understand what the content is on your website Install Google Search Console to better understand the SEO health of your website Highly recommend : where you enter one word and get a visual representation of search queries relating to it.

5 Building social presence (blogs): Increase exposure as a blogger by joining an influencer community: Aussie Bloggers and ProBlogger are good places to start. This is great for networking and tip gathering and sharing Looking at basics, making sure your site is properly SEO d so that people can find your website, services and content easily If you have budget a bit of budget, then putting some money into Facebook advertising is a good way to build a following. There s lots of groups out there that work together to promote and like each other s content, however it s pretty false and doesn t really build an authentic, engaged community, so I d recommend staying away from them. Blogging is a long game though, there s no quick fix the best way to build a strong, engaged community (and all that comes with it) is regular posting, engaging with the community and investing your time. Try pitching articles to publications you feel you are aligned to. This can be a good little earner and also will increase visibility and credibility of your brand. In addition, it gives you a solid portfolio to use when selling your services/offerings The Australian Writers Centre runs some really amazing courses (both online, and in person) that are great if you want to take that next step as a professional writer. I d highly recommend them, both from a content perspective, but also from the contacts that doing a course like that opens up.
