Experience Standards

Host Standards Empathetic Genuine Credible You anticipate your guest s needs and feelings. You keep in mind that each group you host will have varying levels of familiarity with your subject. You re truly passionate about hosting and meeting people. You want to have authentic interactions with guests, not just transactional ones. You re deeply knowledgeable about your subject or skilled at your activity, and can demonstrate this to guests.

Experience Standards Access Hosts can provide meaningful behind-the-scenes access or insider knowledge to people, places, or activities that a guest couldn't find on their own. Participation Hosts provide opportunities for guests to meaningfully engage in activities or conversations by fully taking part in the experience, not just observing it. Credibility Hosts are passionate about the experience's theme and can demonstrate a deep knowledge of the subject or a skilled mastery of the activity. Value It s important to set a price that balances expectations with what your experience has to offer. Guests should feel satisfied with the amount of time and money they ve spent. Based on the price of an experience, guests should be able to anticipate the level of service and exclusivity they ll encounter. Accuracy Based on the host s description of the experience in their listing, guests know what to expect. This includes who s hosting, the location, what s provided, how long the experience is, and what guests will do. Only guests who book through Airbnb can attend an experience. Perspective Experiences tell the host s story so guests become fully immersed in their world. Throughout the experience, hosts create moments that help guests gain a deeper understanding of the host s background and viewpoint.

Experience Basics Airbnb Fee Dates Frequency and Timing Airbnb takes a 20% fee from experiences. This is an industry standard and enables our CX assistance, insurance, etc. Dates are specific and set by you. Unlike the homes platform, you will choose exact dates and times when you will offer your experience. You choose how often you host. More availability is preferable, but we do not require any specific availability. Timing-wise, mid-day weekends have been positive.

Responsible Hosting Business Licensing Transport Food and Drinks The City of Seattle asks that anyone providing a service registers for a business license. This is an easy online process. If transportation is the theme of your trip, consider Seattle s expectation for a commercial permitting license. Otherwise, transport can be provided for free to guests. The City of Seattle asks that food be prepared in a commercial kitchen for the safety of those who consume it. Consider this aspect when planning meals.
