1 REF: PPR/15-11/1 PUBLIC NOTICE ON CAP PRICES FOR PETROLEUM PRODUCTS EFFECTIVE WEDNESDAY, 04 th November 2015 The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) hereby publishes cap petroleum products prices, applicable in Tanzania Mainland in the month of November These retail and wholesale prices are applicable effective Wednesday 4 th November Furthermore, please take note of the following: (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) Retail and wholesale prices for Diesel and Petrol have changed compared to prices that were published on 7 th October Retail price for Petrol has decreased by TZS 82/litre or 3.91% while Diesel price has increased by TZS 51/litre or 2.78%, respectively, there is no change on the retail price of Kerosene. Similarly, compared to the last month publication, the wholesale price for Petrol has decreased by TZS 81.54/litre or 4.12%, while Diesel prices increased by TZS 50.87/litre or 2.95%. There is no change on the wholesale price for Kerosene. These changes have been caused by changes of prices of petroleum products in the world market, and movement of the exchange rate of the United States dollar to the Tanzania Shilling. There were no imports of Kerosene during the month of October 2015, as such prices for this product remain as were in October In line with the prevailing sector legislation, prices of petroleum products are governed by rules of demand and supply. EWURA shall continue to encourage competition in the sector by making available petroleum products pricing information including price cap. This information on prices is intended to enable stakeholders to make informed decisions on petroleum prices at any particular time. Oil Marketing Companies are free to sell their products at a price that give them a competitive advantage, provided that such price does not exceed the price cap for the relevant product as was computed by the approved formula which was gazetted through the Government Notice No. 405/2015 of July All petrol stations should publish petroleum product prices on clearly visible boards. The price boards should be clearly visible and should clearly show prices charged, discounts offered as well as any trade incentives or promotions on offer. Consumers are advised to purchase from those stations that sell products at the most competitive prices. It is an offence not to have prices published on boards located in clearly visible places in front of petrol stations and it will attract punitive measures from EWURA. Retailers must issue receipts with respect to all sales that they make and consumers are advised to demand and keep receipts that clearly show the name of petrol station, date on which such purchase was made as well as the type of fuel and price per litre for every purchase they make. 1

2 This can be used as an exhibit in case of a complaint lodged in the event that the selling price is above the cap price or in case the products sold are off the approved specifications.
