This includes: Product (Or service) Price Place Promotion The action or activity of gathering information about consumers' needs and preferences

Preparing for your product presentation

Decide on your team name. The project manager will lead this discussion. You will only have five minutes to discuss this so use your time effectively.

How do we conduct market research? Market research is important in deciding what your target market want. Surveying your target market is one of the simplest ways of gathering information. Design your survey questions to collect relevant information. Make your questions simple, and where possible provide multiple choices with no more than 5 options. Keep your surveys brief

Complete the plan that your group has been provided. Include this plan in your design brief folio.

Each team is required to complete a business plan. This plan will summarise the work of the team, as well as evaluate the process and product when it is completed. The business plan must include: 1. The business name 2. The team members and their roles 3. The goals of the business team 4. Evaluation of the product, the team performance and group work. (this will be completed at the end of the design brief)

Your group may decide to use a mascot for the promotion of your product. Remember good advertising will use persuasive language: Emotive language Repetition Exaggeration Tripling Alliteration Personal pronouns Facts and statistics Rhetorical questions

All you need is some interesting voices to produce the jingle. Remember that writing a jingle is a lot like writing a poem. Rhyming and rhythm are both important.

The packaging for your product needs to reflect: the findings from your market research your advertisement your jingle It must show nutritional information and a list of ingredients

Don t forget to complete your evaluation. This should be completed in two parts: Group reflection (lead by project manager) Individual reflection

This is a really important part of the design brief. All members of the team must be involved in the presentation. There will be a winning team and a prize for the best product and presentation.

You will be assessed on: the folio of work your team produces The team presentation How you worked with other members of your team

Laura Muller Day: Monday Date: 29/10/2012 Year: 7 Period: 1 Subject: Humanities Learning Intention: Overview of presentation details. Team name selection. Development of research questions, and continued work on product designs. Academic Vocabulary: Target market Marketing mix Market research Beginning 10 minutes Body 5 minutes 20 minutes Review 5 minutes Students to view PowerPoint outlining the requirement for the presentation and project work that is to be handed in. Teams to select names for their team. Students to sit with their group and spend five minutes deciding on a name for their team. Once team names are decided on, the Market Researchers are to move to a separate table to work on the development of survey questions. While the market researchers are working together, the remaining students will be in their groups continuing on product design, packaging ideas, jingles and slogans. During this group work, the students will complete a teamwork activity involving a colouring handout and crayons. This is designed to highlight how important team work is to complete the task as students will not have in front of them all the correct colours to complete their colour by number sheet. They will need to ask other students in their group to use certain colours to complete their design. Students are to be given a calendar timeline showing when they need to have certain components finished, and their presentation ready to go. Brief discussion on what will happen in Thursday s class in relation to the market research. Resources: Making Choices PowerPoint presentation Colour by number sheets and crayons Market research plan Examples of market research questions Project planner Examples of packaging. Strategies for differentiation:

Market Research Plan 1. What is your problem? (Identify the information you are hoping to discover) 2. What is the size of the market? (How many people make up your potential market?) 3. How much do you think your customers will be prepared to spend? 4. Where will the product be sold? 5. How will you gather your data? (Will you use a survey? Who will you survey? Who will you need to talk to organise this?) 6. How will we collate the data? 7. What does the data tell us? (conclusions) 8. Our group decision:
