3 2 TONS * Big festivals and events are great. They bring people together to celebrate music, film, adventure, the arts, and being outdoors. What s not to love? But they can generate a lot of waste particularly in the forms of plastic bottles and cups. Sometimes these items can be recycled or composted, but that doesn t stop festivalgoers from leaving these single-use items on the ground or stuffing them in the nearest garbage can. When it comes down to it, trash is trash. * The amount of waste produced at the UK s Glastonbury Festival, which hosts 177,500 people over one weekend

5 Klean attended more than 80 events during the 2015 festival season with more than 400,000 attendees. We provided more than 90,000 stainless steel pints to festivalgoers nationwide. Those pints kept the beer flowing and prevented an estimated 450,000 single-use cups from entering the waste stream. We filled festivalgoers steel pints and reusable bottles with more than 50,000 gallons of fresh drinking water, diverting more than 400,000 plastic bottles from the waste stream.

The Vail Valley Foundation has worked with Klean Kanteen to integrate pints into multiple VVF events including the GoPro Mountain Games and the 2015 Alpine World Ski Championships. 11 CUP KARMA Single-use is just plain trashy. Make reusables the star of the show through our Cup Karma program. Successful strategies include: providing drink coupons with each pint purchased offering discounted refills on drinks in steel pints creating a social media buzz and encouraging attendees to post pint pictures and join the conversation

12 FULL REPLACEMENT Include pints in the cost of admission and provide a steel pint for every attendee to use throughout the festival. Full replacement is a great way to lead the green-event movement and show fans and performers that single-use waste just isn t cool. Successful strategies include: providing a pint for each attendee (included in the price of admission or sold on site.) Klean Kanteen provided water stations allowing or incentivizing attendees to bring pints from past events (when applicable) creating a buzz on social media and encouraging attendees to post pint pictures and join the conversation
