Such functions are distinguished based on its application and performance (for storage, protection and transport), and also on its accessibility, due to its capacity to be a link that favors the interaction between the end user and the product. The efficiency of packaging has improved over time and its communication functions have been further developed and enhanced: packaging represents now a bridge between products and consumers, between values and needs, between a brand and collective imagination. That is why packaging has now become one of the most important tool from a communication and brand point of view. This is thanks to the countless advantages of this material PET Engineering has been working with for more than thirty years. COST-EFFECTIVE Here are a few examples of the economic advantages of PET: lower costs in terms of raw materials, lower processing costs thanks to more simplified, faster and more efficient processes, lower transport costs thanks to its lightness. LIGHT PET is characterized by extreme lightness compared to other materials used for bottling and, more specifically, for packaging. It is easily shipped to end users, but also ensures significant savings in terms of transport costs from the production site to the point of sale. RESISTANT Thanks to its composition, PET is resistant against shock, unbreakable and safe throughout its life cycle: this ensures safety during production, transport and use by the end user. CUSTOMISED Customised containers can now be developed in different shapes, colours, decorations and barrier properties thanks to PET with reasonable prices. SAFE PET ensures unrivaled hygiene standards and preserves the organoleptic and nutritional properties of each type of food or beverage. RECYCLABLE PET is 100% recyclable and, when recycled, it can give life to new containers, but also to other products used in everyday life. 6 7

5 PET ENGINEERING'S MILESTONES Since 1986 and in the course of the following years, Moreno Barel has acquired the technical skills and know-how that have become the sturdy foundations of PET Engineering since Within a few years, this company based in the Treviso area has become a leader at a national level and, later, internationally by working with major multinational firms such as AB InBev and PepsiCo. In 2007, PET Engineering designs around 80% of the beer containers produced in Russia and opens its first branch in Moscow to better follow the market. In 2008, the team moves to a location that quickly becomes the only European technological center specialized in the production of PET containers for the beverage industry. The crisis forces bottlers to drastically reduce their costs: PET Engineering faces the challenge by launching the Conversion Line and Lightweight Design services aimed to reduce the amount of plastic used. PET Engineering receives its first national recognition: the Packaging Oscar for Levissima La litro, the first ultra-lightweight bottle made of 25% of recycled PET Important investments are made to expand the lab with state-of-theart equipment and devices for the production of efficient and quality containers. PepsiCo acknowledges PET Engineering's lab as one of the few external labs to analyze PET bottles for carbonated soft drinks and flat drinks. The company introduces a new method integrating design, engineering expertise and research, and closes the year with a turnover increase of 45%, in addition to winning its second Packaging Oscar. PET Engineering receives the World Beverage Innovation Award for the Devin Crystal Line and is ranked - by Confidustria (General Confederation of Italian Industries) - amongst the 20 most innovative Italian businesses. The technological center is expanded by 1,500 sq.m. to support the growing number of activities, amongst which the new Preform Design and Prototype service. A second commercial branch is opened in Shanghai. In 2016, PET Engineering invests in its re-branding and introduces a new logo and identity, representative of the innovative approach integrating strategic design, engineering and research. 8 9

6 A TRULY INTEGRATED PROCESS DESIGN The remarkable extensive expertise in the PET packaging field and the truly innovative approach which integrates design, engineering and industrialization had helped PET Engineering set itself as a unique reality worldwide, devoting itself to its customers from the moment they need a new packaging to its production. DESIGN TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT Through the analysis of the market and brand values a product is developed to face the business with its shelf competitors, thanks to a distinctive, shelf-appealing shape which is industrially feasible and which can be developed through a preform that is either available on the market or custom-built. Preform The quality of a bottle, its aesthetic appearance and its mechanical performance, also passes through a correct design of the preform, ie an item that, once blown, becomes a bottle, and through the quality of the material with which it is developed. Precisely for its ability to create a daily interaction between brand, product and consumer, the packaging must be coherent in every single element and, in the case of a packaging for the beverage and for the food sector, it should be coherent with regards to the container, label, cap and secondary packaging. 7 TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT Our thirty years of experience in PET allows us to turn our creative output into reality, by relying on prototype services and by testing the performance of the new packaging through in-house testing at our lab. Our in-depth knowledge of the materials, additives, barriers and dyes, as well as the possibility to test them in-house ensure the development of a creative and feasible packaging that can preserve the organoleptic properties of a product. Blow Mould series PET Engineering manufactures moulds for every type of container and blowing machine, ensuring rapid deliveries in accordance with high technical and quality parameters. An efficient quality control system guarantees that the blow moulds meet the quality parameters required by the client. 8 GO GREEN ATOMIUM EVOLIGHT Lighter, cost-effective and safer for the environment without sacrificing aesthetics and handling: this is the Go Green service, but also the Feasible Lightweight design criterion that, from the symbiotic design of the preform and container, gives life to ultra light, cost-effective, eco-friendly and efficient bottles that are easy to be implemented on the bottling line. 9 PET-À-PORTER FONTE VITA QUEEN Year: 2017 Format: 0.75 l Year: 2017 Format: 0.75 l PET-à-Porter is a packaging line based on the desire to provide bottlers with ready-to-go solutions for their products. The line was developed thanks to the cooperation between the design office, the R&D group and the Technical Office in response to a briefing on the real needs of a cluster - defined both geographically and demographically -; the solutions provided were later used as designs that can be purchased either through a transfer or a license agreement. Thanks to a guarantee of feasibility, ensured by the expertise of the designers, researchers and engineers, all the models of the PET-à-Porter line are ready to be produced immediately
