Ons raai u aan om nie die prosedure te volg nie aangesien die rye lank is en om vir kassiere te vra om twee kwitansies uit te druk aangesien u die een gaan indien by die koshuis en dan self nie ʼn bewys het nie. OPSIE 4: HEFFING OP STUDENTEREKENING Hierdie vorm word geteken by die koshuis met aankoms waar die gelde op die studenterekening gehef sal word. Die onderskeie intrekkerspakkett e maak dit ook vir studente moontlik om met slegs een betaling die betrokke kostes te dek. Wat is koshuiskas? Koshuiskas is n eenmalige bedrag wat deur voornemende koshuisinwoners betaal word wat hul deelname aan verskeie studente -aksies (sport, kunst e, JOOL, instandhouding, opedag, ens.) deur die jaar wil verseker. Wat word by klerasie ingesluit? Let daarop dat elke koshuis sy unieke klerasiepakket spesifiseer (bv. 2 gholfhemde, 1 broek, 2 paar kouse, reënbaadjie, rugsak, ens. Wat is die doel v an die oorpak (Ovie tydens JOOL)? Die oorpak moet vir veiligheidsredes (Beroepsveiligheid en gesondheid -wetgewing vereis dit aangesien daar gesweis word tydens die bou van die JOOL-vlotte) deur elke persoon wat die JOOL-plaas betree, gedra word. Oorpakke kan wel gekoop word sonder om JOOL-kaartjies te koop of om aan JOOL deel te neem, aangesien die oorpakke ook vir ander geleenthede benut gaan word. Wat behels JOOL? Met hierdie dagboek sal jy presies weet wat op die NWU-PUK aangaan. Daar sal ook NWU-PUK tafelkalenders te koop wees. Daar sal ook n JOOL-pakket wat n PukDorp-overall en gumboots insluit. Jy moet n langbroek en gumboots dra as jy op die JOOL-plaas saam met die bouspan wil werk en aan die JOOL-vlot wil bou. Bring n ou paar jeans en ou skoene saam, want dit kan/sal moontlik skade ly. Bring asb die volgende saam: 1) n gewaarmerkte afskrif van jou matrieksertifikaat (of as jy dit nog nie in Januarie 2018 het nie, bring n afskrif van jou simbole-staat); 2) jou groen Suid-Afrikaanse ID-boekie; en 3) jou mediese inligting (met bewyse van enige allergieë). OPTION 2: FEES ARE PAYBLE AT THE RESIDENCE ON ARRIVAL It may be paid in cash or cheque in the designated room at the residence. (Cheques must be made out to: Northwest- University. It may not be made out to the residence. Namibian and foreign cheques are not accepted.) Please insist on a receipt as it serves as your only proof of payment. OPTION 3: CASH & BANK CARD PAYMENT Money is paid at the cashiers in building F1 in Lovers Lane on the day of arrival. A receipt will be given which has to be handed in at the residence and serves as the proof of payment. We advise you to not follow this procedure due to the fact that the queues are long and you need to ask the cashiers to print two receipts as you need to submit one at the residence and then you won t have your own proof of payment. OPTION 4: FEES ARE CHARGED TO THE STUDENT ACCOUNT This form is signed at the residence on arrival and then the fees will be charged to the student account. All bursary holders (including NSFAS) should sign this form, unless otherwise stated by the bursary agreement. Residence Fund An amount of R850 is annually collected from each resident and used for the following: Activities during the year. Portfolios, e.g. Culture, Sports, etc. Maintenance RAG per capita

15 What is a resident package? The resident package includes a combination of student activities which each prospective first year can choose to participate in. None of these activities are compulsory which means that students only pay for that will they will participate in. The different packages also make it possible for students to cover the costs with only one payment. What is residence fund? Residence fund is a once-off amount which is paid by prospective residents who want to ensure their participation in various student activities like sport, arts, RAG, maintenance, open day, etc. What is included in the clothing package? Take note that each residence has their own unique clothing package (ex. 2 golf shirts, 1 short pants, 2 pairs of socks, rain jacket, back pack, etc.) What is the purpose of the overall during RAG? The overall is necessary for safety reasons (Workplace safety and health-legislation requires this because people will be welding while building the RAG floats) and should be worn by every person that enters the RAG farm. The overalls can be bought without the need to buy a RAG ticket or to participate in RAG because the overalls are used on other occasions as well. What does RAG entail? RAG is not only fun and games; it is a big charity event. Your RAG ticket lets you participate in this unforgettable student experience and energetic parade and also gives you access to the RAG farm. This is the place where the float parade ends and it is also the place where two rock-concerts take place on the final two evenings of RAG week. There will also be a fireworks display on the Friday evening. What is the First-year s formal? The First-year s formal is a fancy and exclusive event for first-year students with great food and pulsating music. This is an opportunity to get to know the other first-years better. This formal is definitely a highlight each year and should not be missed! Bring the following from home What you will need during Registration & Orientation Quite a few pairs of comfortable short socks, shorts and comfortable running sneakers, because you are going to discover the meaning of walking. A pair of black church/formal pants, long chinos and short chinos. Neat, formal black shoes for First-years Formal. Athletics equipment for First-years athletics Any funny clothes for theme activities with other residences. A musical instruments, if you can play it Other items that can be ordered on your day of arrival The NWU PUK diary has all the necessary and important dates, emergency numbers, House Committee numbers and the campus map important information that will keep you informed about what s going on at our campus. A NWU PUK desk diary is also available. A RAG package will also available, which will include a Pukdorp overall, gumboots and a Pukdorp backpack. You must wear long pants and gumboots while building the RAG float at the RAG farm but save your expensive pair of jeans and bring an old and worn-out pair instead because it will get damaged.

16 Very Important Please bring the following: 1) a certified copy of your matric certificate (or if you do not have it yet, bring a copy of your matric results); 2) your green South African ID book; and 3) your medical information (including proof of allergies).
