3 ETHOS Trusted Government Information Portfolio The Government Information Services team offers a trusted information and data portfolio service we deliver trusted government information, data and open digital engagement to improve the public s digital experience with government. We work with government agencies and industry to raise the quality and efficiency of government s digital delivery. The core portfolio of services has been brought together to provide a strong foundation to deliver value to the public and all-of-government. Department of Internal Affairs

5 The story so far In June this year, budget was approved to progress: the user-centric website Govt.nz tools for public consultation analytics expertise to enhance cross-agency web traffic and user journeys increase assistance and advice on user-centred best practice web accessibility standards.

6 To improve the public s digital experience and raise government s capability.

7 What is this new tool? It is a an all-of-government (AoG) service that enables public participation in policy development and service design, contributing to the development of citizen-centred services. Or, in plain English, it means we re: Giving the public sector a tool to make it easier to talk to people and find out what they think.

8 Online Engagement Internationally, governments are: treating citizens as customers increasing the mobility of government services engaging with open data connecting people. Department of Internal Affairs

9 Why should government care? An estimated 1,500 to 3,000 stakeholder engagements annually across public sector agencies 4,162,209 of New Zealand s 4.5 million people regularly use the internet 5.7 million mobile phone connections in New Zealand, which is 125% of the population
