1 Studi Artist and Assciate Artist Applicatin The Wrkhuse Arts Center, a prgram f the Lrtn Arts Fundatin, is creatively re using and adapting the histrically designated facilities f the frmer DC Wrkhuse and Refrmatry. The Wrkhuse Arts Center is a vibrant cultural cmmunity that fsters a diverse ffering f arts, educatin, scial and entertainment experiences. The Wrkhuse prvides a hme fr mre than 100 f the regin s finest prfessinal and emerging artists; hundreds f classes and arts educatin prgrams fr peple f all ages and artistic abilities; cperative studis; perfrmance and theater venues; dedicated gallery and exhibitin space; and event facilities. The Wrkhuse Arts Center is accepting applicatins fr artists wh are interested in becming a studi artist r an assciate artist at the Wrkhuse Arts Center. Studis are intended t be wrk spaces fr artists wh seek t pursue their career in a prfessinal artist cmmunity. Assciate artist may have studi space elsewhere r d nt require a studi but wuld like t exhibit their wrk in a prfessinal and regular basis. 2 STUDIO SPACE APPLICATION FORM The Wrkhuse Arts Center is accepting applicatins fr artists wh are interested in becming a studi artist at the Wrkhuse Arts Center. Studis are intended t be wrk spaces fr artists wh seek t pursue their career in a prfessinal artist cmmunity. Wrkhuse membership will be determined by an utside independent jurr n a quarterly basis. Wrkhuse Arts Center selectin gals are t chse artists that are: Innvative in prductin and cncept, culturally relative, and demnstrate a technical mastery f the chsen media. Participatin in juried shws, curated exhibitins, r private cllectins Shw a cmmitment t their artistic career thugh an existing bdy f wrk Create all riginal art and cncepts, all wrk submitted must be created slely by the artists Studi spaces begin at 220 sq./ft. Rent includes heat, electricity, air cnditining, Wi Fi ready prt in each building, and parking. Each studi building is secured by an electrnic lck and key fb system, there is als n site security. Studi artists have access t their studis 7 days a week, 24 hurs a day. All studis have flrescent lights, natural windw light, as well as gallery track lighting in the halls fr art wrk display. It is the respnsibility f each Wrkhuse artist t cntribute in the fllwing manners: Attend studi building meetings and Secnd Saturday Art Walk (pen huse) Use the studi t prduce artwrk and be pen t the public a minimum f 20 hurs during hurs f peratin at the Wrkhuse. Dnatin f ne exhibit ready piece fr the Wrkhuse Arts Center s Cllectr s Shwcase Fundraising Exhibitin every year. Sign and cmply with the Wrkhuse lease agreement and cmmissin plicy. Additinal Cnditins fr artists rent studi space at the Wrkhuse include: Studi space is t be left in the same cnditin when departing as upn arrival. Rent is due the 1 st f the mnth, failure t pay by the 10 th will result in a 3% penalty fee. Failure t pay rent will result in evictin. Leases vary between 1, 2, and 3 year increments. At the end f the lease artists will submit wrk befre a review panel. Renewal is nt autmatic. Artists are expected t wrk in their studi in an nging and cntinual basis. Fr 3D wrk, please submit 2 images f each piece. Number the images t match the piece n the summary page. Submit Artist s Statement Current CV/ Resume Any additinal supprting materials Applicatin fee f $75 CD Images: Please fllw these guidelines when submitting digital images. Assciate artist may have studi space elsewhere r d nt require a studi but wuld like t exhibit their wrk in a prfessinal and regular basis. Assciate membership is intended fr artists wh seek t pursue their career in a prfessinal artist cmmunity. Wrkhuse membership will be determined by an utside independent jurr n a quarterly basis. Artists may bring in up t three pieces each mnth; hwever wrk larger than 30 x40 in any directin (nt including frame) will cunt as 2 wrks. 8 EXPANDED MEDIUM APPLICATION FORM The Wrkhuse Arts Center is accepting applicatins fr current Wrkhuse studi artists and assciate artists wh are interested in expanding their current medium. Wrkhuse Artists are able t sell artwrk frm juried mediums nly. If an artist wuld like t expand their juried medium, they must cmplete the belw frm. Expanded mediums must still meet all the requirements f the riginal juried medium. Innvative in prductin and cncept, culturally relative, and demnstrate a technical mastery f the chsen media.
