Checkut peratrs, r cashiers, perate tills at sales pints in mst large stres, recrding and receiving payment fr gds being purchased. They pass items ver an electrnic bar cde reader r key in prices manually. Skilled checkut peratrs in the whlesale and retail industry play a crucial rle in cntributing t the prfitability f the business thrugh the way that they prcess transactins and interact with custmers. The Whlesale & Retail sectr has created a develpmental pathway fr different ccupatins within the sectr. This qualificatin will aid bth individual develpment f the learner alng a path f life-lng learning and scial transfrmatin thrugh the frmal acknwledgement f cmpetencies, skills and knwledge thrugh the attainment f a registered Qualificatin thereby enhancing the emplyment prspects f learners. Exit Level Outcme 2 Recrd transactins and prcess payment accurately in rder t minimise lsses. Assciated Assessment Criteria The wrkstatin with all statinery and equipment is prepared at start f day as required in a retail utlet. The ability t secure a till is demnstrated when ging n breaks s that the chance f shrinkage taking place is minimised. Transactins are crrectly recrded n the till accurately. All frms f payment are crrectly accepted and the crrect change given where applicable. The transactins are recrded and the payment prcessed in a manner that minimises the chance f lsses ccurring. Prblems encuntered while recrding transactins and prcessing payment are crrectly handled accrding t generally accepted practices. Exit Level Outcme 3 Cntrl change t prvide the required level f custmer service and t minimise lsses. United Kingdm Qualificatin WRR Certificate in Retail Operatins Level 2 (UK Framewrk) Careful cnsideratin f the envisaged areas f cmpetency included in the Checkut Operatr qualificatin shws favurable alignment t Certificate in Retail Operatins WRR20102, namely: - Cmmunicatin in the wrkplace - Pint f sales handling prcedures - Terminal r register balancing (Pint f Sale) - Custmer interactin Singapre Certificate in Retail Operatins -SWSQ The Singapre Wrkfrce Develpment Agency is a statutry bard under the Ministry f Manpwer (MOM) and leads and drives wrkfrce develpment in Singapre thrugh a strng fcus n industry driven cmpetency requirements which is similar t what drives ur Suth African qualificatins. The Certificate in Retail Operatins -SWSQ cntains the fllwing cmpetencies that are als cvered in Checkut Operatr qualificatin, namely: - Interact with custmers - Perfrm pint f sale peratins - Apply safety and security practices Other cmparisns: Difficulties were experienced fr cmparisn with qualificatins r training in SADC and ther African cuntries, as material is nt available. Althugh the USA is als cnsidered as an area f best practice, relevant qualificatins culd nt be surced. Cnclusin: Frm the cncluded cmparisn it is clear that the Occupatinal Certificate: Checkut Operatr, NQF Level 2 aligns well with internatinal trends in terms f the cmpetencies expected frm a till peratr/ cashier/ pint f sale peratr/ checkut peratr. INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT Integrated frmative assessment: The skills develpment prvider will use the curriculum t guide them n the stipulated internal assessment criteria and weighting. They will als apply the scpe f practical skills and applied knwledge as stipulated by the internal assessment criteria. The external integrated summative assessment will fcus n the exit level utcmes and assciated assessment criteria. RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING RPL fr access t the external integrated summative assessment: Accredited prviders and apprved wrkplaces must apply the internal assessment criteria specified in the related curriculum dcument t establish and cnfirm prir learning.
