1 B2C B2C A website that exists for a business to communicate with consumers. Businesses sell products and/or services to end-user consumers online (enduser is the final or ultimate consumer of the finished product). Most of us have used B2C websites to purchase a variety of things, including tangible objects (like clothing or shoes) and digital files (like songs from itunes). It is also known as retailing and e-commerce (electronic commerce). Examples: A famous company that sells computing devices and software: I really like the design philosophy of the Apple website. It follows what is known as the Less Is More design aesthetic. The website normally doesn t try to excite the viewer with bright colors or radical imagery it is actually quite the opposite it s design is calming, clean, and organized. Taking the Less Is More design approach is highly recommended. Try to build clean, simple, functional websites with WIX. Apple also sells directly to businesses and academia, so it is also a B2B website.

2 B2B B2B A website that exists for a business to communicate with other businesses. The business might be a parts supplier, an ingredients supplier, or a consultation firm (there are many other possibilities, also). Businesses sell products and services to other businesses. Examples: A company that manufactures envelopes and sells to businesses: A company that sells industrial supplies to businesses. Also, non-business entities may complete orders: Take note how the purpose of the site is immediately clear the home page design quickly suggests that the purpose of the site is to sell products. There are categories, a shopping cart icon, and customer service options (phone number, chat, and customer service page).

3 Branding, Brand Consistency Branding Branding The process involved in creating a unique name and image for a product in the consumers' mind, mainly through advertising campaigns with a consistent theme. Branding aims to establish a significant and differentiated presence in the market that attracts and retains loyal customers. From: Check out the GoPro website to see some great examples of branding. Brand Consistency Brand Consistency Brand consistency is the aim of keeping a common design approach to all of a company s communications like brochures, business cards, mailings, and the website. The brand must be clearly identified above the fold on your website.

10 Information Architecture Information Architecture As the plan for the site gradually evolves, you can begin focusing on certain areas. Each of these questions relate to information architecture; in terms of the Web, this is the science of organizing information in a useful and logical manner.
