2 Student Infrmative Pster Presentatin Cmpetitin American Dental Hygienists Assciatin s 95 th Annual Cnference in Clumbus, Ohi at the Greater Clumbus Cnference Center. The Infrmative Pster Presentatins are nt riginal research but are required t be presented in a pster frmat instead f a tabletp, tri-fld bard frmat. Fr the 2018 Student Cmpetitin and beynd, Table Clinics are n lnger allwed, and all nn-riginal research is required t be presented as an Infrmative Pster Presentatin. If yu have any questins abut this frmat change r abut rules and regulatins fr an Infrmative Pster Presentatin, please cntact Tyler Dempsay at tylerd@adha.net. The Infrmative Pster Presentatin gives students the pprtunity t raise awareness abut a thery, service r trend in dental hygiene practice. This is a cmpetitin, and will be bth judged and scred. First, secnd and third place will be awarded, in additin t an hnrable mentin. All applicatins must be received by March 30, Space is limited and subject t a first cme, first served basis. REQUIREMENTS Presenters are required t be present at all three related events at ADHA s Annual Cnference: The cmpetitin n Wednesday, June 20 frm 4:00-6:00pm in TBD The awards breakfast n Thursday, June 21 frm 9:30-10:30am in TBD The Open Viewing Sessin n Thursday, June 21 frm 11:00am t 1:30pm in TBD Cmpetitrs are required t wear prfessinal, business attire t all related events (slacks, skirts, blazers, etc.)

3 Infrmative Pster Presentatin WHAT IS AN INFORMATIVE POSTER PRESENTATION? An Infrmative Pster Presentatin is a presentatin using ral cmmunicatin and a prfessinal pster t infrm, clarify, and/r review material n a specific tpic. An Infrmative Pster Presentatin is NOT riginal research. An Infrmative Pster presents useful and timely infrmatin in an riginal, interesting manner. This infrmatin may be a technique, thery, service, trend r expanded pprtunity in the practice f dental hygiene and/r the brader realm f ral and systemic health. Yur Infrmative Pster shuld be fcused, clear and cncise t prvide infrmatin quickly and stimulate attentin and interest. An Infrmative Pster is nt an exhibit f materials. CRITERIA FOR PREPARING YOUR INFORMATIVE POSTER PRESENTATION 1. Identify a theme r tpic fr yur pster presentatin. 2. Research yur tpic thrughly and have reference dcumentatin available. 3. Be prepared fr questins and discussin. 4. Be prepared t cmmunicate the infrmatin clearly within the alltted seven minutes. Practice yur presentatin s that yu can discuss the key pints withut reading directly frm nte cards. 5. Prepare yur pster t effectively cmmunicate and supplement what yu are saying. Avid using sensatinalized cmments r images. The presentatin shuld be prfessinal and based in sund science and qualified references. 6. Practice yur presentatin with friends and clleagues. Ask fr cnstructive criticism. Examples f Past Psters:

4 RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR INFORMATIVE POSTER PRESENTERS 1. All presenters must be student members f ADHA at the time f the applicatin deadline t participate in the Infrmative Pster Presentatin prgram during ADHA s 95th Annual Cnference. Registered/licensed hygienists are nt eligible t participate in the Student Infrmative Pster Presentatin prgram. 2. The pster applicatin fee is included in the student registratin fee fr ADHA s 95th Annual Cnference. 3. Up t fur presenters are allwed fr each pster. 4. Prfessinal attire is required. Please keep in mind that presenters will be standing during the entire judging prcess. Cmfrtable shes are recmmended. 5. Displaying a dental hygiene prgram name r name tag during judging is strictly prhibited. D nt wear name tags with schl affiliatin. Thse wh d nt cmply will be disqualified frm the cmpetitin. 6. Names may be displayed n the pster itself, but must be cvered up with nntransparent tape prir t and during the judging perid. 7. Presentatins must nt exceed seven minutes. A tw t three-minute questin and answer prtin will fllw after cncluding the presentatin. 8. Trade names n prducts and r instruments are allwed t be identified. 9. Drugs names are allwed t be identified by their trade, cmmercial r prduct name. Hwever, drug names must be referenced by their generic name r chemical makeup fllwing the initial statement f the trade, cmmercial r prduct name. 10. Psters will be judged by three randmly assigned judges. 11. Advertising matter, cmmercial prmtin and slicitatin f sales f any type are prhibited. 12. Psters must be cnfined t the size f the billbard prvided (4 x 8 ), and in landscape layut. Failure t cmply with these rules and regulatins will disqualify the pster frm active cmpetitin and it will nt be judged. QUESTIONS?
