You can find the missing word from the pool of words at the bottom. Mr. White and Mr. Jackson are discussing the new product they are developing. Mr. White: Do you think developing this product is a good idea? Mr. Jackson: Based on my research, (1) are always interested in products that can make life easier. We live in a fast paced world; people now want everything to be done in an instant. Mr. White: With the current economic situation, I just want to make sure that this is a good project. By the way, how will we (2) the product? Mr. Jackson: I think marketing the product is not a big problem. Our (3) is known worldwide and we have an excellent marketing team that can take care of those matters. Mr. White: Yes, I understand your point. According to the timeline we made in our last meeting, we will (4) the product a year from now. Mr. Jackson: Yes, after we have finished the testing and the manufacturing of the first batch of products. Mr. White: I think it would be a good idea to limit the (5) of the products. Let us first distribute the product in the local market. If the product sells well, we could then expand the distribution to our other markets. Mr. Jackson: I agree with you. 4 II. GRAMMAR REVIEW: Topic: Conditional Sentences (5-6 minutes) Conditional Sentences are composed of two parts: the main clause and the if clause. Conditional sentences states that the main clause is only true if a certain condition (if clause) occurs. e.g. The company will do well if the employees perform well. The campaign will be successful if consumers will purchase the products. If the product sells well in the market, the employees will receive a bonus. If the team does not follow the schedule, product launching will be delayed. Remember: There are two basic structures for conditional sentences: a) IF + Condition, = Result (there is a comma in between the condition and the result) b) Result = IF + Condition ( no comma exists between the result and condition) Examples : IF + Condition = Result If Clause If the market study s results do not turn out positive, If the consumers do not purchase the product, If the sales for the product does not increase, Main Clause the product will not be developed. the company will go bankrupt. the product will be phased out. Result = IF + Condition Main Clause If Clause Many consumers will be aware of the product The CEO will be disappointed Our company will be competitive if it is advertised on TV and in the newspapers. if the product timeline is not followed. if we continue providing innovative products. Page 4
5 Comprehension Check: Tell me about your goals and what will happen if you achieve them. Use both structures of the conditional sentences.
