2 Lawyer, Referral Service An exciting pprtunity has arisen t jin ne f Australia s mst successful public interest and pr bn law rganisatins. Justice Cnnect is a nt-fr-prfit rganisatin with a visin f a wrld that is fair and just; where rights are respected and advanced, laws are fairer, and systems are mre accessible and accuntable. The Referral Service aims t reach peple experiencing disadvantage and cnnect them with free legal help. The Service achieves this thrugh partnering with and reaching ut t cmmunity services that peple, wh wuld benefit frm free legal advice, access. These rganisatins currently include cmmunity legal centres, clients f ther Justice Cnnect prgrams and hspitals (such as ur Stage 2 Access prject). In this way, the wrk f the Referral Service and its aims are in the public interest. In additin t cnnecting peple experiencing disadvantage with free legal help, the Referral Service is als cmmitted t identifying systemic barriers t justice and advcating fr change. We are currently seeking a Lawyer t play a vital rle in delivering ur strategy. If yu are admitted as a legal practitiner in Victria and eligible t hld a practising certificate, hld knwledge f the legal issues facing marginalised and disadvantaged clients, have excellent interpersnal and cmmunicatin skills, and a desire t make a difference fr human rights and scial justice, we lk frward t hearing frm yu. By partnering with and reaching ut t cmmunity rganisatins, the Referral Service is able t cnnect peple experiencing disadvantage with free legal help. The Lawyer will play a rle in the delivery f the Referral Service strategy. The Lawyer will als supprt system change thrugh law refrm and advcacy activities that the team undertakes. Key respnsibilities Undertake and supprt the delivery f the wrk f the Referral Service including: engage with key external stakehlders and internal Justice Cnnect prgrams t respnd t unmet legal need, and t develp dedicated pathways t free legal help; identify and pursue public interest matters that address systematic issues, and further the aims and bjectives f Justice Cnnect; help peple experiencing disadvantage reslve their legal issues thrugh pr bn legal help; supprt the prject wrk f the Referral Service including assistance fr asylum seekers, yung transgender peple and emerging prjects; cntribute t systemic change thrugh plicy & advcacy wrk including research and analysis and participatin in advcacy campaigns; and raise awareness and build capacity fr lawyers t respnd t the legal needs f peple experiencing disadvantage. Prviding supervisin and guidance t vlunteers. Assist with gvernance, reprting and evaluatin requirements, including reprts fr the Justice Cnnect Bard Undertake prfessinal develpment activities t imprve legal knwledge and nn-legal skills Perfrm ther duties as directed and necessary t the prper perfrmance f the rle 1 As a Public Benevlent Institutin, Justice Cnnect is able t ffer staff generus salary packaging ptins.
