2 Welcome Contents This is your guide to the elements of our visual identity. We use these elements consistently, in all our communications. They work together to define how Wolseley Canada presents itself to our shareholders, our customers and, of course, to ourselves. 3 About Wolseley Wolseley Canada is the country s leading national distributor of plumbing, HVAC/R waterworks and industrial solutions to professional contractors, retailers, and industrial users. 4 Basic Elements Colour Primary Palette Secondary Palette Woleseley Red Pantone 1797 CMYK: RGB: A palette of colours has been developed to establish an identity for all Wolseley communications. Balance The balance of colours has been carefully considered to ensure that: colours in the primary palette are dominant colours in the secondary palette support colours in the tertiary palette act as highlights Sticking to this balance will ensure that Wolseley is seen as a confident and progressive organization. Primary palette Red and white are primary colours. Black is used as the predominant colour for body copy. Tints of red cannot be used. Secondary palette Charcoal grey may be used as a subtler, more friendly, warmer black. Cool grey can be used to add subtlety to a layout. Charcoal grey Pantone 425 CMYK: RGB: Cool grey Pantone 427 CMYK: RGB: Colours may vary slightly across different media. On-screen colours are dependent upon the monitor or projector on which they are viewed, and may not always appear consistent. References for Pantone, CMYK, and RGB are shown on the left, but should always be matched visually according to each application. Where possible, please use Pantone colours. Wolseley Canada Inc. 5 Basic Elements Typography Helvetica Neue Minion Arial 35 Helvetica Thin 45 Helvetica Light 55 Helvetica Roman 65 Helvetica Medium 75 Helvetica Bold 85 Helvetica Heavy 95 Helvetica Black Minion Minion Bold Minion Black Arial Arial Bold Three typefaces have been chosen to give maximum flexibility when designing for a variety of audiences. Helvetica Neue Helvetica is the dominant typeface. It should be used for bold, clear headings, and when dealing with facts, figures and information. It can also be used for body copy in lighter weights such as Helvetica light 45 or Helvetica Roman 55. Minion Minion is the supporting typeface. It can be used for body copy and quotes. It should not be used for headings. Arial Arial is the in-house typeface for use on internal, on-screen documents, PowerPoint presentations and stationery templates. It has a similar feel to Helvetica Neue and is a widely available typeface. It is our principal online typeface. Wolseley Canada Inc. Contents 5

6 Basic Elements Wordmarks Corporate Wordmark The Wolseley wordmark is our key visual identifier. It has been specially drawn and so must only be reproduced from approved master artwork. Our wordmark must always be clearly visible, and positioned to endorse all our communication. This version of the wordmark is used for all corporate communications including: letterhead, business cards, internal s Customer Facing Wordmark The Wolseley Customer Facing wordmark is our key visual identifier to our customers. It has been specially drawn and so must only be reproduced from approved master artwork. Our wordmark must always be clearly visible, and positioned to endorse all our communication. The Customer Facing version of the wordmark should be used for any and all customer facing communication including: promos, customer s, trucks, uniforms, advertisements, branch posters + signage, promotional campaigns, customer web portals Artwork for each version of our wordmark is available in CMYK, Pantone and RGB, for both screen and print. 7 Basic Elements Wordmark Exclusion zone Use of the wordmark Exclusion zone To ensure the Wolseley wordmark stands out, a minimum exclusion zone surrounds the mark as shown to the left. The preferred use of the wordmark is Wolseley red with grey hexagon on a white background. The wordmark should only be reproduced in black when colour printing isn t available. 9 Wolseley Industrial Group Wordmark The Industrial Group wordmark is the primary visual identifier for the Business group (Industrial group). It has been specially drawn and so must only be reproduced from approved master artwork. Our wordmark must always be clearly visible, and positioned to endorse all our communication. Artwork for each version of our wordmark is available in CMYK, Pantone and RGB, for both screen and print. When to use This logo would be used when marketing and promoting the specific company group within: print ads, website, Powerpoint slides, clothing and uniforms and trade show support. 11 Basic Elements Business Division Icons Charcoal Grey With Wolseley Canada s vast product offerings we have defined our various offerings with a unique graphic representation for each operational group. These divisional icons are to be used in tangent with our Canadian Customer Facing wordmark as described in the following pages.
