3 ALERTS Alerts allows users to easily identify new advertising activity based a given set of criteria. You can define new to include brands that have not had activity within a particular span of time. Once an Alert has been executed, the results can be imported into a new report. Alerts are available from the standard navigation bar. Alerts help you track such advertising activity in three different ways: Advertiser Alert will detect when a new Parent or Subsidiary appears within a particular product category based on the criteria selected. Brand/Brand Variant Alert will detect when a new brand appears within a particular product category based on the criteria selected. New Creative Alert will detect when a new creative appears within a particular product category based on the criteria selected. Copyright 2013 The Nielsen Company 3

10 WORKING WITH ALERTS WORKING WITH AN ALERT SPECIFICATION On the Report Specification page, click Private or Shared Alerts Specifications Inbox. The Alerts Specifications Inbox displays the name, date and time of the most recent update, user who last updated alert, alert description, alert status as active or inactive and last alert execution. An Alert Specification can have an Active or Inactive status. An Active status indicates that it is an active Alert, and is executed whenever a new interval of data is available. An Inactive status indicates that the specification is no longer executed as an Alert. If you would like to activate an inactive alert, you must open the alert, check the Activate Alert checkbox and save the alert. Click the Open Spec button to make any modifications to an existing Alert Specification. VIEWING AN ALERT REPORT From the Report Manager screen, you have several options. Highlight Alert Report and click appropriate icon to export to Excel (.XLS) file or Text (.TXT) file. Click the Edit button to convert the completed Alert Report into a Report Specification in the Report Builder. Click the View button to open a completed Alert Report in the Report Viewer. From the Report Viewer, when you view a completed Alert Report, you have the option to Save As an Excel (.XLS) file, Text (.TXT) file or as a Report Spec. SAVING AN ALERT AS A REPORT SPEC An Alert can be saved as a Report Spec. This will create a new Report Specification with the Measures Only layout for Advertiser and Brand Alerts or a Brand Schedule with Creative layout for New Creative Alerts. The specification will be populated with the results of the Alert including Market(s), Media Type(s), Report Period(s) and Product Selection(s). Note: Alerts will be executed weekly if the data relevant to the Alert is available. 10 VISIT OR CALL
