2 In 2006 GM&T developed a Retail subsidiary (GM&TR) to use its considerable expertise within the gas supply chain and begin delivery of gas to end consumers in order to compliment its wholesale activity. This retail activity was extended to power in late UK Retail Business Focused on customers GM&T entered the UK retail market during 2006 with the purchase of Pennine Natural Gas Ltd. a dedicated supplier and a sound base from which to create a retail brand that responds to customer needs and capitalises on GM&T s strength as a global gas player. Our people have many years experience in the energy retail sector and will ensure that our customers receive the first class service and products they deserve from a market leader. In 2009, the same retail proposition was extended to power, with power retail focussing on both half hourly and non half hourly business customers. Our Automated Meter Reading (AMR) and Smart Meter service provides access to half hourly, hourly, daily, weekly or monthly data, allowing you to analyse and understand your energy usage throughout any period.

Copy or urgent invoices can be accessed at your convenience by simply logging on to our web page. How does it work? We provide you with a log on and password You log in securely to see your data Click on invoices and you will see a PDF of your invoice Print it or download it for your records. This also works for meter reads Log in Click on readings to see your historical data Graphing facilities available to see your usage Links to carbon usage to determine your carbon footprint. AMR and Smart Meter Data GM&T Retail is able to offer Automated Meter Reading and Smart Metering to any new or existing customer. 9 Intelligent Metering Measurement is Management Smart Metering and Automated Meter Reading (AMR) is the term giving to the system that provides meter reading data electronically via various communications channels. This limits the requirement for pedestrian reads and can give better granularity of consumption. Smart Metering and AMR is GM&TR s preferred method of meter reading and is currently being rolled out across our portfolio of customers.

10 As part of our energy supply contracts our customers may be eligible for Smart Metering and AMR at no extra cost. GM&TR has recognised the importance of accurate data and have taken the move to install intelligent metering across our portfolio to benefit both our customers and the services we can provide them. Intelligent metering has become an important contributor to all utilities within the UK industrial and commercial (I&C) market. Gas Automated Meter Reading is still in its infancy compared to its counterpart in the power market. Although the aim of collecting data remotely is ultimately the end goal, the means by which they get there is very different. Smart metering usually involves the exchange of the in situ meter whereas gas requires the fiscal meter to be adapted to allow connection of an external data logger. Our Products By using Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) technology metering data is transmitted from the meter point directly to us. Essentially it s a mobile phone SIM card housed within the electricity meter. The transmission of data is similar in gas; however the SIM card is housed in a separate logger which connects to the actual meter. Once installed the equipment is configured to generate and transmit one read a month for us to bill to. We can offer varying data packages dependant on customer requirements. This includes half hourly interval data delivered on a day plus one basis. 12 We guarantee that the electricity supplied to you is generated from 100% green sources that are designated by Ofgem as renewable generation. We are always looking to help our business customers reduce their impact on the environment and have introduced our Levy Exempt Backed Electricity (LEB) product. Our LEB product guarantees that the electricity supplied to you is generated from 100% renewable sources as designated by Ofgem. These include wind, hydro, biomass and solar generation. You can be confident that your business is being supplied from certified sources. If the electricity you consume is generated from designated LEB sources, current legislation provides for HM Revenue & Customs to declare it exempt from the Government s Climate Change Levy (CCL). On your electricity bill, CCL is then replaced by a LEB charge thus making this a cost neutral, more environmentally friendly alternative. Please note that tax exemptions that you may benefit from through your supply of electricity such as de minimis, CCL and VAT - do not apply to the supply of LEB energy. Actions that can be taken to reduce carbon emissions include energy reduction, expanding forests and changing our lifestyles. Governments are tackling this through policy and regulation which will have a significant affect on your business. European Union Emissions Trading Scheme The EU Emissions Trading Scheme is the largest multi-country green house gas trading scheme in the world and is based upon Cap-and-trade. The countries are committed to reduce green house gases by 8% from 1990 levels by the end of the Kyoto Protocol s first commitment period in EU leaders have endorsed an integrated approach to climate and energy policy and committed to transforming Europe into a highly energy-efficient, low carbon economy. A national allocation plan was implemented in which each installation in the scheme was granted a specific number of allowances. Installations unable to remain within their allocation have a choice between taking measures to reduce emissions, buy extra allowances or a combination of the two. Carbon Neutral Gas Customers of GM&T Retail can benefit by having their gas supplied knowing that part or all is carbon neutral and is being offset by good quality energy efficiency schemes that provide sustainable development in local communities around the world. When requesting a quote for gas just ask for it to be carbon neutral. Carbon Offsetting Certificate As part of our client s policy on carbon management you can purchase carbon offsetting certificates that have been certified from good quality sources just like our carbon neutral gas product.
