How to Create Beautiful Social Media Images

Why Create Beautiful Images? In the modern world of social media, its getting harder and harder to stand out from the competition. People do not respond to text as much as they respond to good images representing your brand. Think for example if you were going to buy some shoes. If there were two shops both selling the shoes, which would you, trust more to buy from? 1.The shop with beautiful professional images of the shoes that make them look amazing 2.The shop with blurry images Your brain would instantly make the decision to go with the more professional looking company. You would trust them more. Making amazing images is really easy when you know the tips and tricks. Choosing Images The images that you choose are really important! Choose images that are: Simple Clear High quality Do not have other companies branding on Do not have watermarks on Reflect your brand and message (Our Branding Blueprint has more info on this. 3 Logo If you have a logo make sure that you keep it in.png format. This will allow you to add it to your advertising so that you create brand awareness and so people don t steal your images! Make sure you choose a logo and stick with it. Don t chop and change between images! Brand Colours You may have been given your brand colours when having your logo design in the form of a HEX code. If not look on a colour wheel and find colours that are as close a match as possible to your brand colours. Note these codes down and always use them when producing any documents or images for your business. Stages of Creating an Image The secret to creating really great images is to use more than one image editor. They all have certain features that are great but the 3 that I use when used together make amazing unique images, which look professional (and not like you have knocked it up on your phone)

1. Wordswag I like wordswag to create all of my background images as its easy to use and I can add my logo in after designing. They have thousands of free images that you can use, loads of colour backgrounds and pattern backgrounds. Pick a colour or image (I prefer solid colours for message images) Add a letter of text where you want your logo to be. Make it as small as possible Save Select add logo/watermark and add your logo over the mark This is your base image

2. Pic Lab Pic lab is great for adding borders to your images. I love borders as they make images look far more professional. Select an image from your album (the one you previously created) Click on borders and add a border. Adjust the width of the border to your liking The style of border can be changed with a huge variety of colours and styles. Save the image to gallery

Canva Canva is great for fonts. I love the variety of fonts and the existing designs to give me inspiration. Select the type of image that you want to create (Facebook image/ instagram) Pick a template you like (don t forget you will be changing the image and the text so its going to look very different) Select the template Click on the image to replace it with your own image. Click the text to change the text Adjust the font, colour and size to your liking Adjust the text position to suit your text and design

You can add text overlays and white backgrounds if you want. Save

Images can then be resized for Facebook/ Instagram/ Facebook banners where it will adjust your design so that it maintains the design but fits a number of purposes. This will keep your brand continuity. Have fun! Practice to develop your own personal style and then remember to keep consistent in everything you do!
