There are so many great questions you have to answer as part of your entry and I ve always found that they really get you to look at what you re doing. Entry is open to all New Zealand-based full-service hair salons and barbers with a fixed address. 3. The judges decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. 4. Winners will be announced at the Industry wards in November Entries are due by 31 ugust No entries will be accepted after this date. The judges reserve the right to apply additional criteria if necessary. 6. Entrants who do not provide supporting evidence such as reports generated by your software system and/or accountant, marketing material, photography, references and certificates (where applicable) will be marked down. 7. The shortlisted finalists may be required to verify the information they have submitted if evidence is not sufficient. ll information received and submitted will be treated in the strictest confidence. 8. Entrants who wish to have their entries returned must include a paid postage envelope or courier bag with their entry. 9. Registration fees apply and are non-refundable. Entry is $99 for one category or $199 for multiple categories. This must be paid prior to submission of your entry

3 How to enter the usiness wards 1. If you haven t already, visit kitomba.com/business-awards to register your intent to enter the usiness wards and fill in your details. 2. Download a copy of the entry form from kitomba.com/business-awards. 3. Pay your entry fees. You ll receive an invoice directly from Kitomba. If you re a Kitomba customer, we ll complete a direct debit. If you re a non-kitomba customer, you can pay by credit card over the phone ( ) or via bank transfer. 4. Determine the categories you wish to enter and answer all the questions relating to the categories you re entering. 5. Complete your entry and ensure it arrives at usiness wards Team, PO ox 9300, Marion Square, Wellington 6141 by 31 ugust Ensure the usiness wards Entry Form (page 5) is included with your entry. Entry guidelines You must include relevant support material and examples where specified, e.g. reports from your software system/accountant, marketing material, photography, written references and certificates. Keep to an 4 format and keep all information contained in a single entry (including multiple categories and supporting material). Please write legibly. If we can t read it, we can t judge it. Typed entries are preferred. We appreciate that printing your entry may not be best practice when entering the Sustainable Salon category, however our judges require a printed copy to complete judging. 4 nnouncing Finalists & Winners Finalists will be announced by the end of September 2017 via the Kitomba website, Kitomba Facebook page and . Winners will be announced at the Industry wards event in November 2017 in conjunction with the HITO Training wards. Judging process and criteria t all stages, judges score independently of other judges. Stage one of judging is carried out by a Kitomba representative. During this stage a shortlist of two to five finalists are identifed for each category. Stage two of judging is carried out by hair industry representatives, business leaders and media. Outlined below are the criteria used to judge each award. In these awards judges are looking for a results driven business with all-round strong KPI s. 8 Excellence in Marketing In this award the judges are looking for a business with a unique brand that demonstrates utilizing planning, innovation and creativity to achieve excellent results in marketing. 9 Employer of Choice In this award the judges are looking for a positive workplace culture where staff feel nurtured, valued, training is a priority and everyone wants to work for you. 10 Fastest Growing Salon In this award the judges are looking for a business that is in serious growth mode. Growth in revenue, client numbers, client spend and ultimately profitability. 12 Sustainable Salon of the Year In this award the judges are looking for a business with sustainable practices that are an integrated part of their everyday business. Questions 1. Describe your sustainability initiatives from the last year (1 pril 2016 to 31 March 2017) and their benefits to your business the environment and community. 15 est Salon Design This award is for salons that perfectly balance in form and function. From interior design to salon location and floor plan, it s all about providing the right look and feel for your target market. To be eligible for this award your salon must be new or completely refurbished during the period July July Questions 1. Submit a maximum of 10 photographs showcasing your salon 2. Inspiration (Word limit: 400) What was the inspiration behind the design of your salon? Provide an overview of your key objectives and inspiration, similar to one you would put together for yourself or your designers/ builders to show the vision behind your salon? 3. Target market fit What is your brand ethos and personality, and how does the design of your salon represent your brand/target market? 4. Design and functionality How has the design of your salon contributed to your efficiency and profitability, e.g. improved workflow and access, new services, increased retail sales? 5. Social responsibility How did the design of your salon take into account corporate social responsibility issues, e.g. eco friendly building/materials, energy saving, waste and water, improved working conditions for staff? 6.
