2 Parking today On-street parking in inner city and other high demand areas is a contentious topic, and one linked to a range of transport and planning issues, including congestion, residential densities and land use, and modal choice. PA Research 2015 : reveals innovations in technology, particularly sensor systems and the ubiquity of smart phones and the 4G/wireless networks are enabling city councils to trial and adopt new strategies to manage on-street parking resources in ways that have previously been unworkable. Broadly speaking, the suite of parking management strategies enabled by these technologies are referred to as smart parking

6 The demand for real time parking availability How often do you now hear, Is there an app for that? The parking industry has seen a complete technological transformation over the last five years, introducing numerous technologies that enable advancements to existing parking operations. Parkers are now able to benefit from the integration of multiple data sets streaming into the palm of their hands. As the availability of real-time occupancy data sets grow in parking, the value of this data grows exponentially Early adopters of real time data into smart phones have been universities.

7 The challenges for real time data How do we deliver individual parking facility data to the masses which encompasses private operators and council on/off street parking? How will operators seek a ROI on data that is shared?
