2 Note from the Director August The end of another fiscal year has come and with it some very exciting news for the Wisconsin Lottery and our retailers. Once again we have achieved not only our sales goal, but another year of record sales! Breaking it down a little further, this is our 8th straight year of record sales for our Instant Scratch games, which is a direct result of the work you do! What does this mean specifically for you, the retailer? Higher RPP returns for the year or more simply put, a little extra money in your pocket. And we aren't slowing down yet. We will be rolling out new incentives throughout the coming year giving you additional ways to earn cash and prizes. The first one is Read to Win which allows you to win prizes just for reading this newsletter. You saw the teaser on the front cover now check out all the details on page 5. Cindy Polzin Lottery Director The Wisconsin Lottery's mission is to achieve the greatest possible property tax relief for Wisconsin taxpayers. Record sales keeps us true to this mission as it means larger tax credits for Wisconsin property owners, many of which are also Lottery retailers and players. What a great way to celebrate our 30th Birthday year. SECURITY CORNER Hello everyone, I want to introduce myself. My name is Kevin Kaminski and I am the new Security & Operations Bureau Director for the Wisconsin Lottery. I have a background of nearly 20 years of combined law enforcement and corporate security experience. I am very excited to be working for the Wisconsin Lottery and I look forward to meeting with you as I travel around the state with our Field Marketing Representatives to see the retail side of our operation. In the future, you may see more of my security team as we visit some of your locations. Our purpose will be to highlight any security issues, inform you of any potential risks for you or your customers, and answer any questions you may have. We will also be looking for feedback or insight you may have regarding Lottery security. The most important thing is to report any suspicious behavior you may see at your location(s) regarding the Lottery. If something just doesn't seem right to you, it probably isn't. We are always here to help, so if you have any concerns, please call the Hotline number to report a theft or security concern and my department will follow-up with you to assist. The number is the same as the yellow sticker on your terminal, Kevin Kaminski Security and Operations Bureau Director Thank you and I look forward to meeting you! Security Tip of the Month Ticket Returns Remember, when your Field Marketing Representative conducts returns on your tickets you need to make sure you are verifying line by line with them that the ticket and pack numbers on the receipts match the actual tickets returned before you sign the three receipts. This one quick step helps everyone involved verify that there were no errors made, ensuring you get the credit back that you deserve.

3 August Leeman Corner Market N9302 State Road 187 Leeman, WI This month we travel to the unincorporated community of Leeman in Outagamie County ten miles north of Shiocton. The Wolf River runs through Leeman making this a popular area for camping and other outdoor recreation. Our Retailer of the Month, Leeman Corner Market, is a location with a long history with the Wisconsin Lottery and an even longer personal history. The original Leeman General Merchandise store sold everything from a sewing needle to a threshing machine, bulk kerosene, dynamite, gasoline and dry goods. The dynamite made for quite a show when the store caught fire in 1927 and burned to the ground. Then owned by Benjamin (Benny) Mills, the store also had a dance hall upstairs. Stories about Benny include dances, parties, wrestling matches and moonshine. In 1930, a new store was built to replace the old one. After the Mills family, the store was owned by two generations of the Pierre family and it is currently owned by the Duane (Duke) Baker and Mary Nacius family. Duke and Mary embrace the colorful history of their store and they display photos and artifacts from the early days. They hope to have the store registered as an historical site one day. Lottery games were first sold at Leeman Corner Market when the Pierre's owned the store. Duke and Mary are continuing the practice by offering thirteen scratch games along with all the lotto games. The $5 price point is the most popular of the scratch games sold here. Leeman Corner Market is certainly not one the biggest Lottery retailers in the State but they have some of the most entertaining stories from the past. If you're ever in the area, stop by Leeman Corner Market and check out a piece of Wisconsin history! Duane Baker and Mary Nacius, owners. Leeman is located in the intersection of Cty F and Hwy 187, not far from the Wolf River. Kris Gutknecht has been with Lottery going on five years. He calls on Waupaca, Waushara, Winnebago and Outagamie counties.
