1 Expression of Interest (EOI) Participation in Delegation to Facilitate Market Access for Pakistani Citrus to Philippines GAP Certified Kinnow Exporters Closing Date: August 28, 2017 Submission through any track-able courier service or to the following address: The Procurement Department: U.S.-Pakistan Partnership for Agricultural Market Development 83-A/E-1, 5 th Floor, Main Boulevard, Gulberg III, Lahore, Pakistan

2 NOTE: (Before filling the form, please read and understand documents carefully) Introduction: The U.S.-Pakistan Partnership for Agricultural Market Development (AMD) is a USAID funded, four year project that aims to improve the ability of Pakistan s commercial agriculture and livestock sectors to compete in international and national markets in the four target product lines; meat, high value and off season vegetables, mangoes, and citrus. AMD will act as a catalyst for development and investment in its target product lines by actively promoting cooperation and coordination amongst the value chain actors and ancillary service providers. AMD s implementation strategy is underpinned by a strictly commercial and market driven approach with a clear focus on strengthening market access for its partner organizations and supporting marketing and sales efforts, both nationally and internationally. The objective of the AMD project is to encourage investments in the four target product lines through offering matching grants and empowering stakeholders by developing synergies among them to accomplish together what they cannot do alone. AMD will support upgrading, streamlining of supply chains, optimization of profit margins, increase in the participation of women entrepreneurs, and ultimately help make Pakistani meat, high value and off season vegetables, mangoes and citrus more profitable and competitive. In line with the overarching goal of AMD and the marketing strategy developed, participation in trade shows and other marketing events is a key element of the Project s international marketing strategy. AMD will work towards facilitating participation of partner businesses at leading trade exhibitions and marketing events. The Project s support will include targeted technical assistance for preparatory work prior to each show, facilitation for B2B interactions at the event itself and subsequent support for follow-up upon conclusion of the same. Background: Exports of Pakistani Kinnow has remained confined to a few conventional international markets, thereby curtailing profit margins on one hand and maximizing risk by limiting exports to a few markets. During the last export year, Pakistan Kinnow suffered a heavy set back in its traditional market of the Russian Federation, making it even more imperative to expand into other markets. The Philippines is a lucrative market for Pakistani Kinnow as Pakistan s Kinnow export season coincides with the Chinese New Year. Pakistan can easily expand into this market through increased b2b interactions. The AMD objective of enhancing sales by promoting exports of its target product lines can be achieved through facilitating agribusinesses participation in leading trade fairs, exhibitions and b2b interactions. Attending these events with structured b2b interactions can be an effective platform for marketing of Pakistani products and provides an ideal opportunity to expand market networks resulting in the development of lasting business relationships and sustainable exports. The Program Leading exporters of Citrus (Kinnow) from Pakistan will be attending Asia Fruit Logistica being held in Hong Kong from the 6th to the 8th of September, After the end of the trade show, AMD will facilitate a delegation consisting of up to seven (7) exporters of citrus (Kinnow) for a visit to Manila, Philippines. The visit will take place from the 9th to the 13th of September, AMD working with the Pakistani commercial attaché in Manila will setup a series of b2b and b2g meetings for its facilitated exporters with major importers and relevant government offices. Visits to key wholesale and retail

3 markets in Manila will also be conducted to gather insights and hold meetings. Furthermore, AMD staff will utilize the opportunity to gather market insights for all of its target product lines and identify key market players in fresh produce and other AMD product lines for future use. AMD will bear the lodging cost of all facilitated exporters in Manila including cost of local transportation, b2b meeting space and other related costs. The exporters will cover their costs visa, air fare, M&IE, samples of citrus, proprietary marketing materials. The AMD staff traveling with the selected citrus exporter s delegation will support the overall management, operation and moderation of the b2b and b2g interactions between Pakistani exporters and prospective buyers & relevant government offices. They will also conduct rapid market appraisal for the AMD target product lines in general and specifically AMD s potential grantees. Expected Outcomes The market access delegation will facilitate the establishment of new market links through b2b meetings and visits. Strategic sales leads are expected to result in new export orders and an overall increase in export sales for the citrus. The delegation will also serve as an opportunity through which Pakistani mandarin can be promoted in the regional market, especially targeting the Philippines and ASEAN countries. The visit will also allow the Pakistani citrus exporters to build a brand identity for their produce. Application/ Qualification Criteria: 1. Registered GAP certified exporter of Kinnows; 2. Registered exporter having exported Citrus in the last two years to any ASEAN country 3. Business Registration 4.
