Publishers Australia is the professional association for B2B, B2C and custom magazine publishers of print and digital titles, along with industry suppliers. This peak body provides respected and authoritative representation for the targeted-title industry, advocacy of the highest standards in publishing, professional development through workshops, seminars and networking events, and industry recognition through the annual Excellence Awards program across all facets of print based and digital media publishing. We re more than an association for magazine publishers and digital media we re a vibrant community of like minds. 3 About Publishers Australia. Publishers Australia represents many different types of publishers of quality targeted-media in Australia. Members specialise in engaging people through a variety of highly defined magazine and online media environments within B2B, B2C and custom publishing categories. Specific-interest or niche publications make up the vast majority of magazine titles in the marketplace today, comprising 82% of ABC audited titles in Australia. And as the association representing them, we strive to remain at the cutting edge in all that we do. Publishers Australia is dedicated to improving the value and range of services provided to our members and increasing our membership to make our dynamic organisation even stronger and more effective. The association is focused on providing peer support and practical assistance to help publishing businesses manage key issues including legal, commercial, technological, and those affecting business growth. We also provide assistance with postal, distribution, copyright and privacy considerations. Publishers Australia is not-for-profit and member-based with over 120 publisher members and over 40 associate members including leading printers, design studios, specialized production facilities, events companies and mail distribution specialists. Our head office is located in North Sydney and chapters are active in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. 5 CEO Publishers Australia Alan Sarkissian joined Publisher Australia in the middle of 2008 from PANPA (Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers Association) where he was instrumental in raising standards and their profile with key stakeholders. His previous roles include Chairman, Director and NSW President of the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) and running his own successful consulting business. He also has extensive experience in B2B and Consumer magazine publishing as well as the digital publishing environment. Alan is available to address your industry, company or group on issues regarding media engagement and targeted title marketing, the changing nature of publishing, and the industry landscape in 2010 and beyond. As editor of Publish.News the national fortnightly enewsletter from Publishers Australia, and a close collaborator with Alan Sarkissian in regards to the association s marketing efforts, Philip brings a wealth of expertise to his roles. Philip possesses significant editorial writing, editing and marketing communications skills gained at high-profile ad and DM agencies, and leading organisations. He has worked for McCann-Erickson Sydney, Grey Direct Response, EURO RSCG, Integrated Options, Polymedia Events, Futureffect and Alpha Multimedia, as well as Coles Myer Liquor Group and ANZ - AFT Unit Trust Investment.
