1 Aussie Clue Cracker Activity Create yur wn digital stry Create yur wn digital stry Outline Inquiry apprach Students create their wn digital stry that utilises at least 3 icns and symbls, and may draw n the Australian Citizenship Affirmatin Students will gain an understanding f: Days and weeks celebrated r cmmemrated in Australia (including Australia Day, Harmny Week, ANZAC Day, NAIDOC week) and the imprtance f symbls and emblems (Australian Curriculum, Histry, Year 3, ACHHK063) This can be an individual r small, mixed ability grup activity. ASK: Tune In Intrduce and discuss the inquiry questin: What wuld I include in an Australian digital stry? Engage yur students by discussing what is meant by a digital stry and hw symbls and icns can be used t create atmsphere and feeling. Discuss the task at hand yur students need t wrk individually r in small grups t create their wn digital stry that prtrays what it means t them t be a yung Australian in the 21st Century. Each digital stry will need t include 3 icns r symbls (like sme film festivals d). Decide, as a class, what these 3 icns/symbls must be. Encurage yur students t brainstrm the different things they wuld include in their wn digital stry, t capture what they think it means t be a yung Australian and the symbls r icns they wuld use. Ensure that yu have access t apprpriate sftware t create the digital stries, such as PhtStry r imvie. INVESTIGATE: Find Out Yur students will need t develp an understanding f hw t use the sftware, including the prcesses f strybarding and finding the digital assets (their wn images, images frm the Aussie Clue Cracker r elsewhere) t create their digital stry. They may refine their apprach nce they have a clear idea f what they have available t them. CREATE: Srt Out Once yur students have gathered all the resurces they need (including the 3 symbls decided upn as cmpulsry fr all stries), it will be time t plan their digital stry. Yu can refer t Wrksheets 1 and 2 t help yur students understand hw t cllect and rganise their digital stry.

Encurage yur students t share their plans and their ideas and t cmpare ntes, discuss cnclusins, and share their experiences. When their digital stry has been cmpleted, think abut planning a film festival event fr yur class and ask each student t present their digital stry t a small grup r the whle class. Yu might even cnsider students reviewing each ther s wrk and sharing these reviews with the whle class. This stry will be abut YOU and yur feeling abut what it means t be a yung Australian it will reflect yur ideas, thughts, views, experiences, bservatins, pinins, cnversatins, questins and reflectins. Yur vice, as the stryteller, is imprtant t the stry. Stries are mst pwerful when they cme frm a persnal perspective. And remember t include yur 3 Australian icns/symbls. Finding yur stry Start small. This is a ne-minute stry. Keep it simple. This is a mment in time. Think abut: Wh is the audience? Yur classmates? Wh will yu wrk with? On yur wn r in a grup? The purpse f the stry: t share yur feelings abut what it means t be a yung Australian. What might the stry be abut? Hw will yu include the 3 symbls?
