5 Why We Sell Popcorn... Raises money to fund program. Other organizations stop there. Here are 6 more SCOUT reasons. 1. Scouts experience adult interaction (a Scouting Method) 2. Character building (a Scouting Aim) 3. Scouts are responsible for their program 4. Incentives (prizes, $$, etc.) 5. Easy and profitable compared to other fundraisers 6. Scouts are good at it

6 Your unit (Pack, Troop, etc.) is a Popcorn Store... without a storefront. Stores buy at wholesale and sell at retail. Scouts are the salesmen on commission. What s a popcorn store need? Up first, Take Order. POPCORN!

7 What is Take Order? Door-to-door, friends, family, etc. TAKE an ORDER for popcorn Deliver later. Makes the most money. On average, Scouts will sell $200 per hour going door-to-door.

8 Step 1 Decide on... - Kick Off Date: Pack Meeting, Troop Meeting, Special Meeting, etc. - Unit Prizes/Awards (not from Camp Master s) Awards? Top Seller Prize Pie in Cubmaster s Face Local Business Freebies Pack 123 Kernel Pack Committee Top Den/Patrol Prize Door Prizes Free Overnight Trip Refund Dues

9 Step 2 Have an Awesome Kickoff! Get kids excited!! - Hand out/explain popcorn forms - Door Prizes? - Demonstrate how to sell door-to-door - Explain flavors & costs (not in detail) - Explain rewards/incentives/unit awards Yes! Are you ready to sell some popcorn?!? Pack 123 Kernel

10 Step 3 Scouts get to work selling. Have organized outings? Neighborhood blitz days. Collect money now (if possible) in this order: 1. Cash or Check, Credit Card 2. Pay Later (pros and cons)

11 Step 3 Note: Make checks out to the Units. At end of sale, Units write one check to Council. Put Scout s name on checks.

12 Step 3 Alternative: Show-N-Sell door to door, aka Show-N-Deliver

13 Step 4: Ordering Take Order... Collect money & orders At least 1 week before due to Council Leave forms with Scouts Collect 1 check from parents. Why? Use a spreadsheet Pack 123 Kernel

Tabulate how much popcorn you need to order. a. # Sold Door-to-Door b. left over from Show-N-Sell c. = Equals Total you need to order Door to Door = 45 Movie Theater Butter Popcorn Leftover Show N Sell = - 10 Movie Theater Butter Popcorn Need = 35 Boxes of Movie Theater Butter Popcorn = BUT there are 6 boxes to a case. Order 5 Cases and 5 Boxes

18 Step 6 Order Popcorn at Camp Master s Website ordering.campmasters.org Deadline is when? $10,000 of popcorn coming right up! $10,000 (retail) Ordering (this is a little harder) Pack 123 Kernel

19 Step 7 Pickup ordered popcorn. Pickup date is when? Remember, a post-dated check for December 12, 2016 for the balance due is required at the time of distribution in November in order for popcorn to be released.

22 What is Show N Sell? Selling at store fronts. Why do Show N Sells? Non-confrontational Community awareness Supplements Take Order Some people will buy only if they see the product On average, Scouts will sell $150/hr in popcorn with Show N Sell.

60 Popcorn Payment Beginning in 2016, a post-dated check dated for December 12, 2016 will be required at the time of Take Order Distribution (November) in order for popcorn to be released to the Unit.
