2 Throughout the Business Module, we will use several practical sessions to create a mock business as a class. As we navigate through all the facets of business branding and marketing, the class s mock business will further develop from a concept to a quasi-business! This will be instructor-led and will require input from everyone. The class will vote on the answers. You are encouraged to jot down notes that you may think of, especially if your preferences are different from the class s overall preferences. Project Background: You ve graduated from NPTI Colorado and you re ready to start your own business. Yay! You ve decided to open a small private studio that will offer personal training as well as small group training to start. Initial Thought Process: Helpful questions to think through in order to help make branding and marketing decisions: a.) Who is my target market? b.) What am I trying to accomplish through this business? c.) WHY am I starting this business? d.) What emotions do I wish to elicit through my branding? e.) What do I want the culture of the company to be? (Gladiator Fitness vs. Namaste Journey Fitness vs. MamaFit, etc.) f.) What products & services will this company offer?

4 When deciding on colors to use in your logo, think through the general emotions elicited by color: Yellow: Optimism, clarity, warmth Orange: Friendly, cheerful, confidence Red: Excitement, youthful, bold Blue: Trust, dependable, trust Green: Peaceful, growth, health Purple: Creative, imaginative, wise Gray: Balance, neutral, calm What concepts do you want your logo to include? Either have a student sketch a logo or visit You can create your logo for free. Capture the image. No need to buy anything! Click on Create a Logo to start. Some more good info to read. 5 Marketing Your Mock Business Social Media / Online Presence 1. Facebook: a. Create a facebook page. Students should like the page. b. As a class, take and post photos that are consistent with the branding / philosophy / target market you are going for. Notes: On the left hand side of the page on Facebook, there s an option to create a page. Once you click that, you ll be led through a series of questions about your company. Answer those and VOILA! You ll have a business page 2. Instagram: a. Create account. Students should follow the account if they have Instagram accounts. b. As a class, create 3 compelling photo posts that represent your branding, promote your services, and motivate your target market Notes:

6 3. Youtube: a. Create a Youtube Channel. Students should subscribe. Name the channel: NPTI MOCK: [Company Name] b. As a class, create and upload the following videos: 1) Exercise technique 2) Create a commercial for the studio 3) Education Notes: 4. Promo Video: Go to the website: to create a promo video for free (It will remain a preview unless you purchase it. No need to do that for this project! You get to choose stock footage, music and add text. 5. E-commerce: a. In accordance with your branding, you now get to choose which products you will sell.
