1 MANUFACTURING PROGRAMME Equipment for corrosive solutions and environments

2 CEPIC has specialized in the manufacture of anti-corrosion equipment since Our experience enables us to offer a range of particularly reliable equipment adapted to the most corrosive and difficult processes. BASIC MATERIALS GRAPHITE Artificial synthetic resin-impregnated graphite: High resistance to the majority of corrosive agents, excellent coefficients of electrical and thermal conductivity, low expansion, great geometrical stability, good resistance to thermal shocks. It is therefore a very versatile material, particularly suitable for the manufacture of heat exchangers, pumps for hot acids or solvents, rupture discs, etc. Operating limit temperature: -50 C to 200 C. POLYPROPYLENE Very versatile general use thermoplastic. It is inert to corrosion of most acids, alkalis and some solvents. It is a basic material for the manufacture of CEPIC centrifugal pumps. Operating limit temperatures: - 10 to + 90 C. HD POLYETHYLENE Very versatile thermoplastic. Like polypropylene, it is inert to corrosion of most acids alkalis and some solvents. Moreover its impact strength, abrasive strength and resistance to low temperatures are excellent. It is therefore particularly suitable for the manufacture of centrifugal pumps for corrosive fluids containing solids in suspension. Operating limit temperatures: - 50 to + 80 C. PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) Chemically inert, suitable for temperatures up to 120 C (pure) or 150 C (filled). Due to its machining characteristics this material is restricted to specific applications. PVDF (Vinylidene polyfluoride) Main features of this material: Thermoplasticity allows easy machining, remarkable thermal stability from - 30 C to C, mechanical resistance greater than all current thermoplastics; excellent resistance to most corrosive agents. 2

8 HEATING AND PUMPING EQUIPMENT FOR PICKLING LINES PICKLING PROCESS DILUTION UNIT FOR SULPHURIC ACID Elimination of ferrous and ferric oxide particles during steel production in metallurgy. 8 PRINCIPLES OF CHEMICAL PICKLING : Immersion of metal into a bath of acid (hydrochloric, sulphuric, nitric or hydrofluoric acids or solutions of those acids) The immersion time, the concentration of the bath and the temperature of the bath are optimized according to the results to be obtained. PRINCIPAL INFORMATIONS : In 1958, CEPIC designed and started supplying the steel industry with horizontal heat exchangers (EH) and graphite vertical glandless pump (PV) to replace the steam jet system. With steam jet, steam was directly injected into the bath of acid in order to increase the temperature. This resulted in an important acid dilution. The economical and technical advantages of the external heating system: - Significant reduction in the environmental pollution thanks to the recycling of the acid - Stabilisation of the acid concentration - The homogenisation of the pickling bath temperature - Increased thermal efficiency After computing the thermal balance of the pickling lines, the best suitable equipment can be dimensioned by CEPIC. CEPIC OFFER : - SKIDS enclosing all the necessary equipment to heat the pickling bathes - Equipment for pickling lines can also be supplied separately Centrifugal horizontal or vertical pumps Graphite heat exchanger Strainers - Installation and commissioning of CEPIC equipments. All CEPIC equipment is very strongly constructed - beneficiary or our experience since Principal advantages of our SKIDS: compact design, start up and maintenance facility. Supervision of the temperature - the principal element of the pickling line - can be optimized. DILUTION UNIT : Their goal is to obtain diluted sulphuric acid at a required concentration and temperature. PRINCIPLES OF DILUTION : The concentrated acid and water are mixed in the dilution unit. This reaction is very exothermic and the acid after dilution has a high temperature. The diluted acid is cooled in a graphite block heat exchanger. CEPIC KNOW-HOW : Accurate calculating of the thermal balance, optimized design and selection of the best suitable equipment. CEPIC OFFER : SKID enclosing all the equipment for acid dilution, pipe connections, the control of the cooling and security equipment. The user can directly connect the delivery pipes for the concentrated acid, the dilution water and the cooling liquid. The following equipment, made from anticorrosion materials, can also be supplied separately: Dilution mixer in Graphite and PTFE Graphite Heat Exchanger Pumps (AOD, centrifugal ) Installation and commissioning of CEPIC equipments. ADVANTAGE : Savings thanks to smaller storage needs and decreased transport cost SKID rapidly operational Diluted sulphuric Acid ready for use Flexibility of use with regard to nominal capacity Very large possible range of concentration and temperature All processes requiring continuous and important quantity of sulphuric acid.
