ALBECO Process ALBECO Process Technology ALBECO aluminum hard-coat process gives the industry the opportunity to obtain hard-anodized surfaces that are much more uniform, thicker, and with higher abrasion resistance and higher dielectric qualities than is possible with conventional hard-coating processes. ALBECO hard-coatings have wearing qualities that are superior to case hardened steel and chrome plate. While ALBECO hard-coat is too hard for conventional machining, it may be ground, honed, or lapped, utilizing recommended finishing techniques. ALBECO also exceeds MIL SPEC A-8625C, Type III; i.e., allowed weight loss for copper alloy 2024 is 40 mgs. ALBECO loses only 6.5 mgs. Aluminum hard-coating by ALBECO process can produce uniform thicknesses of up to.008" (approx 200micron) on all alloys, compared to.0033" (approx 75micron) with a standard hard-coat. ALBECO Hard-coat is an excellent electric insulator. Breakdown voltages are as high as 1500 A on a flat surface with a coating of 2 to 3 mils (50~75micron), and up to 5000 A on a flat surface with a coating of 7 to 8 mils (175~208micron). A somewhat lower voltage breakdown can be expected at sharp corners or edges. Aluminum alloys having a sealed ALBECO coating have withstood a continuous saltwater atmosphere without evidence of corrosion for periods in excess of 5 years ALBECO Process has the advantage of thick hard-coating as well as bright coloring on it.

5 Unique Properties of ALBECO Low Voltage Process The combination of the Low Voltage power-supply (12-18 volts compared to volts in high voltage systems) with the proprietary additive ALBECO now makes it possible to hard-coat aluminum alloys while maintaining exacting quality control during the process. Obviously, lower energy consumption & lower initial chiller costs will combine with lower operating costs to yield these versatile finishes economically. All Aluminum Alloys The combination of ALBECO s Low Voltage power-supply now makes all alloys possible to hard-coat aluminum alloys while maintaining exacting quality control during the process. High Temperature Chemical Process Depending on the alloy, ALBECO process bath operates in the 40 degree F to 50 degree F (5 degree C to 10 degree C) temperature range, as compared to the freezing (32 degree F, 0 degree C) temperature required for conventional hard-anodizing. Obviously, lower initial chiller costs will combine with lower operating costs to yield these versatile finishes economically.

6 Unique Properties of ALBECO Uniform Coating Structure ALBECO Process is totally unique technology compared with conventional process. The conventional hard- Anodizing process starts coating process at low voltages and getting increase the electric voltage to achieve thicker coating surface. On the other hands, ALBECO process uses lower voltages in all process in order to achieve uniform hard-coating structure. That s why ALBECO now makes it possible to hard-coat aluminum alloys while maintaining exacting quality control during the process. Natural Coloring on Hard-anodizing The color of hard-anodizing coating surface is getting dark depend on coating thickness or alloy mixing ratio. However, the surface condition by sealed ALBECO process can perfectly performs approx 270 natural colors (including bright colors) even under hard-coating condition. High Heat Conduction & Dielectric The hard-coating surface of ALBECO Process can perform high thermal conduction as well as high dielectric (Below 0.03mV at 22,900V) even with thin anodizing process (25 ~ 200micron) because its coating surface become ceramics-wise.
