Rugged construction and portable battery pack enable analysts to take the DR/2010 into the field. Optional portable printer outputs results on site. Optimizes sample throughput with Pour-Thru Cell accessory. Handles a variety of sample sizes and displays readout in userselectable modes: concentration, absorbance and percent transmittance. Provides accurate, reliable readings for long-term reproducibility. 1 United States Environmental Protection Agency 2 Good Laboratory Practice 2

3 The high-performance spectrophotometer no water quality laboratory can afford to be without Meet the DR/2010 Spectrophotometer. As the successor to the popular DR/2000, the DR/2010 offers levels of performance, convenience and economy simply not available elsewhere. Significant improvements in electronics and software plus the addition of datalogging capabilities make the DR/2010 ideal for today s water quality laboratory. The DR/2010 is a microprocessorcontrolled, single beam spectrophotometer designed for colorimetric testing in the field or in the laboratory. Preprogrammed calibrations installed at the factory put more than 120 common water quality tests at your fingertips (see page 10). With a measurement range of 400 to 900 nm, the DR/2010 provides results in concentration units, percent transmittance (%T) and absorbance (ABS) units. Superior optics, sophisticated software, rugged construction, competitive pricing and incomparable ease of use make the DR/2010 ideal for quality assurance testing, environmental monitoring, application development, education and more. Maximizes productivity The DR/2010 is equipped with easy-to-use software that reduces learning time. A powerful user interface enables you to start up the DR/2010 and begin conducting analyses immediately, even if you are not an experienced user of spectrophotometers. Use any of the Hach preprogrammed calibrations to get started simply enter a three-digit program code for the test you wish to perform, scroll to the proper wavelength, insert the blank, zero the instrument, insert the sample, and read the results directly. Or store the results in the DR/2010 s memory and download the data points when you return to the laboratory. Logs 1000 data points With its datalogging capability, the DR/2010 stores up to 1000 sample readings and still has memory left over to sort your sample readings by group number, sample number, parameter and date/time. Besides helping analysts to meet GLP guidelines, datalogging saves time and eliminates the errors that stem from manual data collection. Improves efficiency Use the DR/2010 to maximize productivity. Hach simplified methods minimize sample handling, reagent measuring and waste disposal chores. Whether you are in the laboratory or out in the field, the DR/2010 will not slow you down. No elaborate setups. No lengthy warm-ups. Just turn it on and you are ready to start analysis immediately. And with the new adjustable auto-shutoff feature, the DR/2010 turns itself off after a preset idle period to conserve power. Optional accessories increase throughput and reduce manual record-keeping chores. Install the optional Pour-Thru Cell when fast throughput of samples is required. Use HachLink Software (see page 13) to transfer data from the DR/2010 and store it in text files or in a spreadsheet format. HachLink Software will help your laboratory meet GLP requirements for data collection. 3

4 DR/2010 Comprehensive solutions for your monitoring applications Powerful software enables customization Customize your DR/2010 by adding up to 50 of your own calibrations to the instrument s permanent memory. Powerful curve-fitting software allows piecewise, linear, quadratic, and cubic fits to data. The new DR/2010 software makes it easier than ever to customize the instrument and expedite meeting your laboratory s unique protocols. As new Hach tests and languages become available, you can add them by downloading the latest software upgrade from a diskette in your personal computer with just a few keystrokes. DR/2010 Optical System Photo Detector Sample Cell Mirror Light Moving Slit Prism Parabolic Mirror Switches quickly between modes Choose the photometric readout mode that suits your needs: concentration, %T Abs CONC absorbance or percent transmittance. Simply press the appropriate key on the keypad to switch between measurement modes. Within the concentration mode, alternate chemical forms can be displayed within the same program. For example, phosphate (PO 4 3 ) can be directly displayed as P 2 O 5 or P. Saves space The compact DR/2010 is just 22 x 24 cm (8.5 x 9.5"), so it won t crowd other equipment and apparatus off your bench top. Weighing just under 2 kg (4.4 lbs.), the DR/2010 takes up no more room than a laptop computer and is sturdy enough to withstand the jostling that comes with typical transport situations. Adapts quickly to field testing The powerful DR/2010 is truly a portable spectrophotometer. Use line power when you re in the laboratory, or switch to battery operation. Install D cell batteries or use the optional rechargeable battery for field operation. Light from a long-life tungsten bulb is reflected off a unique parabolic mirror and dispersed with a double pass through the high-dispersion prism. The selected wavelength is imaged onto a moving slit, ensuring more uniform spectral bandwidth. The factory-calibrated optical system provides accurate readings to 2 absorbance units. Accommodates various sample cells, sizes The DR/2010 is flexible for all your sample handling needs. Use the 1-inch (10 ml or 25 ml) sample cell for routine tasks, or install an adapter to accommodate 1-cm cells. Other adapters standard equipment with your DR/2010 include the AccuVac Adapter, 16-mm COD and Test 'N Tube Adapter, Immunoassay Tube Adapter, and the 13-mm Cell Adapter Kit. See page 13. Connects effortlessly to computer Run hard copy results by linking with a computer via the RS232 serial interface. Design enhancements have streamlined the procedure. Use the new HachLink Software (see page 13) to store, recall and record test data after it is generated or when you return to the office or laboratory. Safety and quality standards The DR/2010 is battery operated and comes with an external power supply approved by UL, CSA, and TUV. The DR/2010 is tested for European EMC Directive requirements and the CE compliance mark is applied to the product. You can be assured each instrument has been designed and manufactured under stringent quality standards because Hach Company has earned ISO 9001 registration. Warranted for one year Your DR/2010 is warranted against defective materials or workmanship for one year from date of purchase. 4
