1 Technical Data December 17, 2003 Three Bond Co., Ltd. ThreeBond 3114B UV-curing epoxy resin 1. Outline ThreeBond 3114B is a non-solvent UV-curing resin whose main component is epoxy resin. Since it cures through optical cation polymerization, it is not inhibited from curing by oxygen, and it excels in surface curability. 2. Features 3. Uses Hereinafter, ThreeBond is abbreviated to TB. (1) The resin can cure under irradiation with UV light (wavelength of 200 to 400 nm) only for several to several tens of seconds. (2) Low shrinkage factor during curing (3) Excellent surface curability (4) It exhibits adhesion to various materials, including glass, metals and plastics. (5) Heating after irradiation with UV light is unnecessary. (1) Suitable for bonding and securing optical members, such as optical pickup components (2) Suitable for precisely bonding and securing electric and electronic parts 4. 4 7. Usage Standard curing conditions: Integrated UV light intensity 30 kj/m 2 (3000 mj/cm 2 ) For the details of resin curing method, contact one of our sales engineers. 8. Instructions for use (1) The curing speed varies depending on the type of light source and irradiation distance. Sufficiently check the conditions prior to use. (2) The resin not exposed to UV light or in shadow does not cure as a rule. Before using it, sufficiently confirm whether the method of application and the purpose of use are appropriate. (3) Some gas is generated during application and curing with UV light. Forcibly ventilate the working area and the place of irradiation with UV light. If necessary, wear appropriate protective clothings, such as a mask, gloves (not permeable) and goggles. Use it in a place equipped with a local exhaust system. (4) This product is harmful to the health. Do not inhale or drink it. If it is swallowed, immediately get medical attention. (5) It is harmful to the health. Do not touch it directly or inhale its vapor. Adhesion of the resin to the skin may cause an inflammation. If it adheres to the skin, immediately wipe it away with a cloth or paper, and wash the skin sufficiently with soap and water. If it gets in the eyes, wash them with clean water for about 15 minutes, and get medical attention. (6) If any abnormality is found in the body, stop using the resin, and get medical attention. People who have allergies or sensitive skin should avoid using it. (7) Some materials may deteriorate if this product is used. Ascertain in advance whether or not it affects the parts to be bonded with it. If any problem occurs, do not use it. (8) When using the resin after moving it to another container, check for influence on curability. Do not return the moved resin to its original container. (9) After using it, store it with the cap tightly fitted to prevent deterioration or entry of foreign matter. (10) Use and store it out of reach of children. (11) The inorganic filler may settle. Stir the resin prior to use. 9. Storage Store the resin in a dry place at 10 to 25 C away from light. 10. Disposal Ask disposal services with specialized knowledge to dispose of the product. -4-
