2 Company information VOL-Stahl Group of Companies serves different sectors of industries with high-quality special profiles with complex cross-sections. The profiles are produced at two manufacturing units of our Group. Our main plant, Omutninsk Metallurgical Plant, has been developed to be one of the largest producers of special profiles worldwide in its more than 240 years of history. Second production plant is our rolling mill VOL-Stahl France SAS, the leading producer of tool steels in France. Our global customers are managed by VOLStahl GmbH with branches in Dresden, Hanau and Hoyerswerda, as well as by VOL- Stahl France SAS in St. Juery. VOL-Stahl Special Steel Profiles (Shanghai) Co.,Ltd., founded in 2016, serves our Asian customers. We are able to respond promptly to individual customer requirements and different needs, as well as to consider exact specifications in order to contribute to the added value by our customers. The unique possibility to control the quality of our products starting from the melting process in our own steelworks, through our modern hot and cold rolling lines, as well as cold drawing benches, up to the finished profile, is our most important competitive advantage. 3 Profiles for the linear motion systems A rapid development of the automatic machinery and manufacturing lines boosts the demand on the linear motion systems and puts new requirements on the producers of linear guides and components. Linear guide rails must not only be extremely precise, have high wear resistance and work under ever increasing speeds, but at the same time their manufacturing process should be cost-efficient. Under those circumstances producers of linear motion systems take the challenge of combining high product quality with cost-effectiveness. We, at VOL-Stahl, are the right partner, as we can meet our customers high product requirements by providing competitive process cost solutions. Thanks to the complete manufacturing process from steel melting up to cold drawing and machining VOL-Stahl has the unique advantage to offer the complete range of profiles for guide rails and carriages, from miniature rails up to the largest dimension. We offer not only cold drawn profiles for guides and carriages, but also machined carriages, which enables our clientele to solely focus on their core competence. 5 Cold drawn profiles for linear guide carriages Carriages for linear guide rails are traditionally produced either from forged parts or flat bars. Both are in fact not the best choices from the efficiency and cost perspective. A significantly better solution is the use of cold-drawn profiles. Providing a near-end-shape geometry they majorly reduce the machining cost in the following process. Furthermore it increases the productivity of the machine tools, since all further operations, such as cutting, drilling, precision milling, now take only a fraction of the whole machining time. This allows our customers to produce more parts on their CNC machines without additional investments. 6 Machined parts for linear guide rails Beside cold drawn profiles VOL-Stahl also offers finished machined carriages. We have built a new machining workshop at our Russian plant and invested in series of modern CNC machines. This enables our clients to focus solely on their core competences and business development rather than think constantly about possible production capacity issues. 7 Quality and R&D capabilities Thanks to the complete in-house production from steel melting, up to the final drawing steps VOL-Stahl controls the whole manufacturing process and can guarantee the highest quality on each production step. During steel melting we take multiple samples to check the chemical composition using spectroscopic analysis. On the next manufacturing steps hot rolling and cold drawing we take several samples from each batch to control profile sizes, mechanical properties, micro- and macrostructure and purity level. All these quality checks are conducted on modern equipment by highly skilled engineers. Basing on our knowledge of the production process and properties of steel we are always interested in consulting our customers in matters of finding an optimal steel grade, which better meets specific requirements. By modifying the chemcial compositon we achieve higher mechanical properties, much improved machinability or better corrosion resistance. Also, our engineers can advise how heat treatment, specific microstructure and grain sizes can influence properties of a profile and the final product.
