2 Introduction to Hempel A/S The Hempel Group of companies was established in 1915 by J.C Hempel with the motto Quality and Service, which is still the hallmark of the Hempel Group. All of the operational companies within the Hempel Group are owned wholly or in part by the J.C Hempel Foundation. Since the first Hempel factory started production in 1915 in Denmark, the group has grown to become a worldwide enterprise with 10 research centres, 24 manufacturing plants, 48 sales offices and more than 150 stock points around the world. Hempel is active in several strategic segments including Marine, Protective, Container, Decorative and Yacht. MARINE PROTECTIVE CONTAINER Marine coatings have traditionally been the core business of Hempel and since 1915, we have grown to have one of the most extensive supply networks in the Marine Market, servicing marine customers with products of the same high quality all around the world. Hempel s range of protective coatings cover a wide range of applications as diverse as wind turbines, mining structural and process plants, onshore and offshore constructions, bridges, rail cars, gas and petrochemical plants, pipe coatings, civil structure and general industry. Hempel is the market leader for coatings in the container industry. 95 percent of the containers in the world are being built in China and over a quarter of these are coated by Hempel. Our solid experience and knowledge in this industry ensures the highest degree of quality and protection for container owners and manufacturers. DECORATIVE Hempel manufactures an extensive range of high quality decorative paints ideal for many applications, from private houses and villas to the largest commercial buildings. Hempel s extensive product range includes high performance emulsions and enamels, together with a variety of textured finishes and special effect paints. YACHT Hempel provides coatings for all types of vessels, from small aluminum fishing boats to luxury sailing yacht. Hempel yacht paints are produced to the highest standards, with the primary aim of meeting the demands of the marine environment and complying with important environmental issue. 1 Hempel Products Overview BrochureV14.indd 1 1/14/13 4:11:40 PM
