6 Process & Technical Data Laser welding and cutting: At home in many industries! Laser Weld Laser Weld creates a restricted light beam characterised by a every high energy density. This energy melts the material and allows welding. The specific contact- and thus force-free energy input in the base material results in high welding speeds and high-quality welds. In practice, various types of lasers with very specific advantages came out on top. Laser Hybrid Weld Laser Hybrid Weld combines a laser beam with a MIG/ MAG welding process in one common process zone. With Laser Hybrid Weld you benefit from the advantages of both welding processes. A restricted light beam with focus on the weld is created which is characterised by a every high energy density. This energy evaporates the material and penetrates it deeply. The MAG arc following the laser fills the crater and ensures a perfect side wall fusion. The main advantages of Laser Hybrid Weld are a deep penetration, low heat input and perfect side wall joints. With Laser Hybrid Weld you increase your productivity due to highest welding speeds. You need less filler material because of the reduced number of welding layers. You reduce the component distortion and avoid extensive reworks thanks to the low heat input. You accelerate your whole production process by means of the reduced weld preparation. Laser Cut The Laser Cut process strongly restricts the light beam and generates a small focussed spot with a very high energy density. This energy melts the material and due to the kinetic energy of an additional cutting gas the molten metal is removed out of the groove. Laser cutting is characterised by an excellent cutting quality, an extremely high cutting speed and a very good automation capability. Depending on the requirement different laser types with different characteristics can be used. 6 < CLOOS

8 Industry solutions Project description Laser welding system for more competitiveness The Manitowoc Group is one of the world's leading crane manufacturers. The US Group produces its GROVE brand autocranes at the Wilhelmshaven site. To increase competitiveness, the company is currently investing in state-of-the-art production technology and optimised material flow in the traditional manufacturing shops. Its heart is a 60 m-long CLOOS laser welding/cutting system around which the production of the telescopic booms flows. 8 < CLOOS

9 Industry solutions Project description TMS relies on future technology The Luxembourg company TMS Metall- und Stahlbau wants to capture new markets and so invested in a state-of-theart laser welding system with robot technology from CLOOS. For the first time a Scan-Tracker optic is used for heat conduction welding so that different materials and weld geometries can be reliably processed. Weld your way. > 9

10 Industry solutions Project description Flexible robot system for faster production times Palfinger is the world market leader in the segment of loader cranes. In a fully-automated system, the components are manufactured From the raw sheet metal up to the welded profile tube. CLOOS developed an individual and globally unique system to weld the longitudinal weld seams at the push arms of different sizes. Laser Weld, Laser Hybrid Weld and Laser Hybrid Brazing are integrated in one system in order to produce the different push arm versions quickly and flexibly. The workpieces are fully-automated loaded and unloaded. 10 < CLOOS
