1 ZirChrom Separations LC/MS friendly, ultra-durable zirconia-based (HPLC) stationary phases. Bene Technology Co., Ltd. MKT

2 HISTORY ZirChrom Separations, Inc. is a company formed in 1995 located in Anoka, Minnesota, USA. ZirChrom manufactures a full line of zirconia-based high performance chromatographic materials for the analytical analysis of compounds primarily by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Silica gel, alumina or polymeric HPLC stationary phases, which are widely used today, are subject to poor performance under some operating conditions such as high mobile phase ph (> ph 8) and elevated column temperatures, respectively. Alternatively, zirconia is chemically stable over the entire ph range from 1-14, and is also thermally stable. Due to the toughness of zirconia, ZirChrom has adopted the rhinoceros( 코뿔소 ) as its company symbol. The extreme stability of zirconia and its unique chromatographic selectivity allows for the optimization of separation conditions, which are totally incompatible with other types of supports. As with the more traditional HPLC supports, a wide variety of analyses may be performed including amino acids, peptides, proteins, nucleic acids (RNA and DNA), carbohydrates, pesticides, environmental samples, clinical samples and pharmaceuticals to name just a few. Zirconia-based supports promise to revolutionize the way that liquid chromatographic analyses are done. These supports will last longer, and allow for faster more selective separations resulting in significant cost savings per analysis.

3 Effect of Mobile ph to Zr/Si 1. The ph of the mobile phase affects both zirconia s surfacecharge and the charge state of the analyte. 2. The type of buffer used in the eluent. 3. The pka of the analyte.

10 RPC

11 RPC_ZIRCHROM PBD USP L 49 A reversed-phase like material, but with slightly different selectivity. Stable from ph Not as hydrophobic as typical C18-silica phases, so less organic solvent is required. Selectivity is modifiable through the addition of a strong Lewis base to the mobile phase such as fluoride, phosphate or hydroxide. Thermal stability is so high it may be used indefinitely at temperatures up to 150 o C, and is much more stable than new Zorbax TM phases. These higher temperatures result in lower pressure drops, narrower peaks, very high speed analyses and different selectivity.

13 RPC_ZIRCHROM PS A reversed-phase like material, useful for separations that require highly aqueous eluents. 16 RPC_ ZIRCHROM CARB Quality comparable or better than Hypercarb TM at a lower price. Very different selectivity than ODS or polymeric materials; a good alternative when ODS does not work. Better for geometrical isomer separations than ODS or normal phase LC. Superb for separating diastereomers.

20 NPC _ ZIRCHROM-PHASE - SEC Stable from ph 1-14 and at temperatures up to 150 o C. Bare zirconia may be used as an extremely stable SEC phase, which does not produce tailing with amines. A support that may be modified for different selectivity by adding fluoride to the mobile phase. A very stable, regenerable alternative to fragile and expensive hydroxyapatite for protein chromatography.
