3 Background KEMET s COTS series of Tantalum Surface Mount capacitors are designed for the Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) requirements of military, aerospace and other high reliability applications. All existing COTS products in the market today utilize MnO2 as the cathode plate of the capacitors. KEMET s T540 and T541 Polymer COTS series are the first to market COTS product line utilizing an organic conductive polymer as the cathode plate of the capacitor. 5 Performance Characteristics Voltage ratings: 2.5V to 63V Operating temperature -55C to +125C Surge current testing options available Sn/Pb termination finish available T540 single anode, T541 multi anode offerings KEMET s Polymer COTS ( Series) capacitors are rated for operation between -55 C and +125 C. Parametric electrical performance remains within stated specification limits after 1000 hours of continuous operation and/or storage at +125 C. Long term duty cycles or storage at or above +125 C may result in an increase in ESR performance outside of the stated specification limits. 11 Summary KEMET s T540 and T541 Polymer COTS series are the first to market polymer COTS product lines offering low ESR, stable capacitance at high frequency and enhanced de-rating. This Polymer COTS series complements KEMET s other COTS product lines that are suitable for military and aerospace high reliability applications. Surge current testing options, standard tin-lead (SnPb) termination finish and very low ESR options are offered in both the T540 single anode or T541 multiple anode surface mount packages.
