1 June, 2015 Flame-Retardant Polyester Resins Supersedes: December 2005 DESCRIPTION are low-viscosity, high-solids, general pupose flame-retardant polyester resins. These extensivelytested resins provide smooth surfaces, excellent fiberglass wet-out, and positive curing performance. are ideal for a variety of general purpose flame-retardant FRP applications. In addition, incorporation of aluminum trihydrate allows DION FR 7704 resins to meet stringent smoke emission and smoke toxicity specifications. The degree of flame-retardency of laminates prepared using DION FR resins has been characterized using several standard ASTM test methods. Testing has been performed under strictly controlled conditions. The behavior of composites made using DION FR resins may vary in an actual fire situation. Resin should be warmed to at least 18 C/65 F prior to use in order to assure proper curing and handling. Mild agitation of thixotropic resins is recommended after prolonged storage. Avoid contamination of product with water and do not store outdoors. Keep containers sealed to prevent moisture pick-up and monomer loss. Maintain first-in first-out inventory system. All storage areas and containers should conform to local fire and building codes. Copper or copper-containing alloys should be avoided as containers. Store separate from oxidizing materials, peroxides and metal salts. Keep containers closed when not in use. Inventory levels should be kept to a reasonable minimum with first-in, first-out stock rotation. Shelf life performance refers to product in the original, unopened container. STANDARD PACKAGE This product is available in non-returnable 55 gallon metal drums (549 lb) 42,000 44,000 lb tank truck. PREVENT CONTAMINATION WITH FOREIGN MATERIALS, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ACCELERATORS (SUCH AS DIMETHYLANILINE, OTHER AMINES OR COBALT COMPOUNDS), HEAVY-METAL OXIDES OR SALTS (PARTICULARLY THOSE OF COBALT, IRON AND COPPER), STRONG ACIDS AND SANDING DUSTS. USE CLEAN CONTAINERS MADE OF GLASS, POLYPROPYLENE, TEFLON, POLYETHYLENE, OR CERAMIC TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF ORGANIC PEROXIDES DURING ITS HANDLING.
