15 Indian SS Scrap Scenario India produced about 2.3 million tons of Stainless Steel in 2012 and is expected to produce around 2.6 million tons in 2013 The Nickel Scrap ratio, in 300 series production, in India is about 64%, which is second best globally after USA which has scrap ratio of 73% Apart from the 300 series, India is globally known for its unique contribution in commercialization of the 200 series The Scrap of the 200 series is mainly used by the Induction based SS producers In India, imports are to the tune of almost 0.5 million tons p.a. The major import are from Europe, Asia and USA, which accounts for 36%, 42% and 11% respectively of the total imports. Demand for SS Scrap in India is expected to be around 0.8 million tons per annum in
